  • Patent number: 10020677
Abstract: A computer system at a substation of an electrical grid examines on-grid communication channels and for very channel, the system compares and correlates a GLA signal provided by a downstream transmitter on that channel to a reference GLA signal. The channel that provided the signal with the best correlation is mostly likely the channel with the transmitter. Thus, the feeder and phase of the signal can be determined from the correlation of signals.

  • Patent number: 9990561
Abstract: Systems and methods identify consumer products in images. Known consumer products are captured as grayscale or color images. They are converted to binary at varying thresholds. Connected components in the binary images identify image features according to pixels of a predetermined size, shape, solidity, aspect ratio, and the like. The image features are stored and searched for amongst image features similarly extracted from unknown images of consumer products. Identifying correspondence between the features of the images lends itself to identifying or not known consumer products.

  • Publication number: 20180136194
Abstract: Separation of the cellular components of whole blood, or other biological fluid, from plasma or serum can be achieved for assay analysis. A device for facilitating separation can include, for example, a capillary tube that accurately draws target blood volume, a pad that chemically interacts with red-blood cells, such that the red blood cells become chemically and/or physically trapped within pad material, a mechanism for plasma recovery from the pad upon diffusion or active mixing, and a dropper tip that facilitates dispensing the mixture onto a test device. The treatment of the cellular components can be performed prior to contact with a buffer solution, so release of the cellular components into the buffer solution is reduced or prevented. Additional filtration can be provided to filter any remaining cellular components in the mixture.

  • Publication number: 20170059566
Abstract: A device for determining presence or absence of infection due to an infectious agent is described. The device comprises a sample receiving zone configured to receive a liquid sample from a subject suspected of having an infection due to an infectious agent, the sample receiving zone positioned to distribute the sample along a first fluid flow path to a first label zone and along a second fluid flow path to a second label zone. Test lines in each fluid flow path capture a mobile detectable species as an indicator of presence or absence of the infectious agent. The device also comprises a reference line positioned in the one of the fluid flow paths. The bidirectional fluid flow paths emanate from a common sample zone and provide an efficient approach to detection and differentiate two species as indicators of the same infectious agent or as indicators of two different infectious agents.

  • Publication number: 20160173513
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for monitoring broadcast serial communication buses, analyzing communications on those buses, and providing information relative to the monitoring and analysis. A CAN bus is used as an example to provide details of analysis of a broadcast serial bus. Metadata and temporal neighbor history for each type of message identifiers are developed and analyzed. Alerts may be generated if the metadata, the temporal neighbor history, or a combination thereof fall outside predetermined tolerance levels.

  • Patent number: 9342892
Abstract: Systems and methods convert to binary an input image having pixels defining text and background. Thresholds are determined by which pixels in the input image and a corresponding blurred image will be defined as either binary black or binary white. Thresholds derive from grouped together neighboring pixels having pixels separated out that correspond to the background. For pixels of the input image defined as binary black and having corresponding pixels in the blurred image defined as binary black relative to their thresholds, those are set to black in the binary image, else they are set white. Techniques for devising thresholds, blurring images, grouping together pixels, statistical analysis, etc., typify the embodiments.
