  • Publication number: 20210065124
Abstract: An online system server determines changes in employment stages for the employees of an organization, where the organization may have multiple employees. The online system server may store employee record in an employment history database, and implement an employment history database schema facilitate the determination of the employment movement. The employment history database schema may define that the rows of an employee history database table includes pointers, where the pointers indicate a prior employer or a subsequent employer. Using formulated queries with the employment history database schema, the online system server allows an organization to more accurately log the changes in employment stages for the employees of the organization.

  • Patent number: 7915954
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for amplifier AM and PM predistortion and autocalibration. AM and PM amplifier distortion can be corrected using predistortion. The AM and PM distortion characteristics of the amplifier are determined using an autocalibration technique. The amplifier characteristics can be stored in distinct look up tables. Alternatively, the inverse of the amplifier characteristics can be stored in distinct look up tables. Signals that are to be amplified are characterized in polar format having a phase component with a normalized magnitude and a magnitude component. The phase component can be predistorted by applying the inverse of the PM distortion characteristics to the signal. Similarly, the magnitude component can be predistorted by applying the inverse of the AM distortion characteristics to the signal. The predistorted phase component can be amplified using the previously characterized amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20070023549
Abstract: The invention provides low-cost, non-thermal methods to transform and beneficiate bulk materials, including low rank coals such as peat, lignite, brown coal, subbituminous coal, other carbonaceous solids or derived feedstock. High pressure compaction and comminution processes are linked to transform the solid materials by eliminating interstitial, capillary, pores, or other voids that are present in the materials and that may contain liquid, air or gases that are detrimental to the quality and performance of the bulk materials, thereby beneficiating the bulk products to provide premium feedstock for industrial or commercial uses, such as electric power generation, gasification, liquefaction, and carbon activation. The handling characteristics, dust mitigation aspects and combustion emissions of the products may also be improved.

  • Publication number: 20060179902
Abstract: A lock with integral pump, comprising: a shackle, the shackle having a first end and a side portion displaced from the first end, the first end including a locking means; a hollow cylinder; a lock barrel at a first end of the hollow cylinder, the lock barrel being adapted to engage locking means in the first end of the shackle; a piston slidable within the hollow cylinder, the piston being adapted to engage the side portion of the shackle; and an air passage located within the hollow cylinder, wherein, in a lock position, the shackle and the hollow cylinder form an enclosed area by engaging the first end with the lock barrel and the side portion with the piston, and in a pump position the side portion is used to push and pull the piston within the hollow cylinder, thereby forcing air through the air passage.

  • Publication number: 20060163795
Abstract: In a high-speed copier or printer, a set of sheets is occasionally withheld while a finisher performs an operation such as compiling and stapling. When the operation of the finisher resumes, a set of buffered sheets is conveyed as a stack into a sloped compiler tray. An upper compiler member, such as a flapper, pushes the top sheet of the stack toward the backstop of the compiler tray, while a lower compiler member pushes the bottom sheet of the stack toward the backstop of the compiler tray. In this way, all of the sheets are aligned against the backstop, such as for stapling.

  • Publication number: 20060163802
Abstract: A buffer device temporarily retains a number of sheets between a printing apparatus and a finisher, such as a stacker-stapler. The device defines a baffle for the passage of sheets therethrough. Arranged in series in the baffle is a set of gates. Each gate is positionable in an open position or a clamping position that causes a sheet passing nearby to be stopped. By clamping each of a set of sheets as it passes through the baffle, and then setting all the gates to the open position, an accumulated set of sheets can be conveyed out of the baffle substantially simultaneously.
