Patent number: 7915954Abstract: Methods and apparatus for amplifier AM and PM predistortion and autocalibration. AM and PM amplifier distortion can be corrected using predistortion. The AM and PM distortion characteristics of the amplifier are determined using an autocalibration technique. The amplifier characteristics can be stored in distinct look up tables. Alternatively, the inverse of the amplifier characteristics can be stored in distinct look up tables. Signals that are to be amplified are characterized in polar format having a phase component with a normalized magnitude and a magnitude component. The phase component can be predistorted by applying the inverse of the PM distortion characteristics to the signal. Similarly, the magnitude component can be predistorted by applying the inverse of the AM distortion characteristics to the signal. The predistorted phase component can be amplified using the previously characterized amplifier.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2004Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: QUALCOMM, IncorporatedInventors: Arun Raghupathy, Puay Hoe See, Gurkanwal Kamal Sahota, Robert Reeves, Paul E. Publication number: 20070023549Abstract: The invention provides low-cost, non-thermal methods to transform and beneficiate bulk materials, including low rank coals such as peat, lignite, brown coal, subbituminous coal, other carbonaceous solids or derived feedstock. High pressure compaction and comminution processes are linked to transform the solid materials by eliminating interstitial, capillary, pores, or other voids that are present in the materials and that may contain liquid, air or gases that are detrimental to the quality and performance of the bulk materials, thereby beneficiating the bulk products to provide premium feedstock for industrial or commercial uses, such as electric power generation, gasification, liquefaction, and carbon activation. The handling characteristics, dust mitigation aspects and combustion emissions of the products may also be improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2006Publication date: February 1, 2007Inventors: Robert French, Robert Reeves

Publication number: 20060163795Abstract: In a high-speed copier or printer, a set of sheets is occasionally withheld while a finisher performs an operation such as compiling and stapling. When the operation of the finisher resumes, a set of buffered sheets is conveyed as a stack into a sloped compiler tray. An upper compiler member, such as a flapper, pushes the top sheet of the stack toward the backstop of the compiler tray, while a lower compiler member pushes the bottom sheet of the stack toward the backstop of the compiler tray. In this way, all of the sheets are aligned against the backstop, such as for stapling.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2005Publication date: July 27, 2006Inventor: Robert Reeves

Publication number: 20060163802Abstract: A buffer device temporarily retains a number of sheets between a printing apparatus and a finisher, such as a stacker-stapler. The device defines a baffle for the passage of sheets therethrough. Arranged in series in the baffle is a set of gates. Each gate is positionable in an open position or a clamping position that causes a sheet passing nearby to be stopped. By clamping each of a set of sheets as it passes through the baffle, and then setting all the gates to the open position, an accumulated set of sheets can be conveyed out of the baffle substantially simultaneously.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2005Publication date: July 27, 2006Inventors: Robert Reeves, Joao Morais
