  • Publication number: 20240113513
Abstract: A hybrid-electric powerplant (HEP) of an aircraft comprises a thermal engine providing a first torque input to the HEP and an electric motor providing a second torque input to the HEP. A power management system connected to one or both of the thermal engine and the electric motor comprises an engine control unit (ECU) connected to the thermal engine. The ECU controls fuel supplied to the thermal engine. An electric propulsion control (EPC) is connected to the electric motor and controls power supplied to the electric motor. The EPC includes an EPC protection module in communication with a power source for the electric motor. The EPC protection module disables power supplied to the electric motor upon receipt of a signal indicative of one or more of an over-speed condition and an over-torque condition detected in the HEP.

  • Patent number: 9754408
Abstract: A method and a computer system for modeling, in a virtual environment of a computer simulation, virtual contaminants in a scene to be rendered. A processing module, using a graphical user interface on a display device, is used for defining, in a model, a first additive zone of the scene over which a virtual contaminant is to be added, defining, in the model, a second subtractive zone of the scene over which the virtual contaminant is to be at least partially removed, the second subtractive zone being at least partially enclosed within the first additive zone and a memory module is used for storing the model, the model being made available through a storage module for rendering the virtual contaminants on the scene in the computer simulation. A preview mode is used for launching the computer simulation at a rate lower than the expected rate of the computer simulation.

  • Patent number: 8633453
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for curing photoactivatable paint coatings. The device comprises a curing radiation source configured to emit radiation sufficient to cure a photoactivatable paint coating at a target location. The radiation source is located at a source location operably spaced from the target location where the photoactivatable paint coating is to be cured thereon. A motorized support for supporting the curing radiation source at the source location is provided where the motorized support is configured to advance the curing radiation source along a travel path. The motorized support is further configured to cycle the curing radiation source along the travel path between a first position and a second position in order to vary over time the angle of attack of the radiation emitted from the curing radiation source toward the target location.

  • Patent number: 8158956
Abstract: A device and method for curing photoactivatable paint coatings. An exemplary device may include a light chamber housing supported by a frame and undercarriage, the wall portions of the light chamber having a peripheral region terminating at a light emission region. A UV light source may be located within the light chamber. A motorized carrier may be provided and configured to controllably index and/or oscillate the UV light source along a travel path within the housing. The light chamber may be located adjacent a target paint cure location on a work piece, with the UV light emission region facing the paint cure location. Once properly located, the UV light source may be indexed and/or oscillated along the travel path to deliver UV light to the target paint cure location so as to cure UV curable paint thereon.

  • Publication number: 20060272296
Abstract: An apparatus includes a packaging device having an output end. The packaging device packages sequenced products with wrap. A clamping device is adjacent to the output end of the packaging device. A conveying system is downstream from the clamping device. The conveying system move a drop off tray incrementally. The clamping device holds one of a plurality of packaged sequenced products such that the drop off tray is in a position to stack multiple packaged sequenced products of the plurality of packaged sequenced products into the drop off tray as the drop off tray is moved, incrementally.

  • Publication number: 20060213564
Abstract: A valve has a housing defining a bore. Two bottom ports and two side ports in the housing communicate with the bore. Two annular grooves are in the outer surface of a spool received in the bore. A bypass extends within the spool from an annular groove to a bypass port. In one embodiment, the bore extends only partially through the housing and the bypass port is at an end of the spool. In another embodiment, the bypass port is on the outer cylindrical surface of the spool at a location substantially devoid of annular grooves therein. An actuator permits selective movement of the spool within the bore between a first position in which the first bottom port communicates with the first side port and the second bottom port communicates with the second side port and a second position, in which the first and second bottom ports communicate with each other and the first and second side ports communicate with each other. The valve has reduced dead space, making it desirable for use with aggressive chemical products.

  • Publication number: 20050029169
Abstract: A feeder load automation system and method of use including a lifting device capable of lifting a pallet of bundled product from a lowered positioned to a raised position and a platform positioned on the lifting device which holds the pallet of bundled product. A head mechanism having a holding device lifts a top layer of bundled product from the pallet to provide a separation space between the top layer of bundled product and a next, lower layer of bundled product or the pallet. A conveyor mechanism, extendible into the separation space, conveys the top layer of product away from the pallet. An input and takeaway station are also provided.
