  • Patent number: 6369250
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino]alkanoate. The process comprises the steps of: (a) providing a source of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino]alkanoate; (b) admixing the source with a water-based purification system to form a purification mixture, the water-based purification system having water present at a ratio of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino]alkanoate to water ranging from about 1:0.05 to about 1:50, preferably from about 1:0.1 to about 1:40; (c) separating a purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino]alkanoate from the purification mixture; and (d) collecting said purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino]alkanoate. In preferred embodiments, the purification mixture includes a processin aide such as ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6365564
Abstract: Asymmetrical imide bleach activators for use in both solid and liquid additive, bleaching and detergent compositions are provided. The compounds have general formula (I) wherein R1 is a moiety selected from a specific group, R2 is a C1-C8 linear or branched chain saturated or unsaturated alkyl group and R3 is a C1-C4 linear or branched chain saturated or unsaturated alkyl group. Preferred compounds include the compounds when R2 and R3 are CH3. Bleach additive and bleaching compositions including the asymmetrical bleach activators and methods of cleaning fabrics are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6096098
Abstract: The present invention discloses asymmetrical bleach activators for use in both solid and liquid additive, bleaching and detergent compositions. The asymmetrical bleach activators display the unique ability to form both hydrophilic and hydrophobic bleaching agents in aqueous liquors such as bleaching solutions. Thus, fabrics, hard surfaces or dishes having hydrophobic stains such as dingy and or hydrophilic stains such as beverages can be effectively cleaned or bleached using the bleach activators of the present invention.
