  • Patent number: 10618649
Abstract: This disclosure describes an aerial vehicle, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (“UAV”), which includes a plurality of maneuverability propulsion mechanisms that enable the aerial vehicle to move in any of the six degrees of freedom (surge, sway, heave, pitch, yaw, and roll). The aerial vehicle may also include a lifting propulsion mechanism that operates to generate a force sufficient to maintain the aerial vehicle at an altitude.

  • Patent number: 10618380
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for on-board diagnostics of components of an exhaust gas heat recovery (EGHR) system including engine coolant temperature sensors coupled to the system. Degradation of one or more of a first coolant temperature sensor coupled upstream of a heat exchanger of the EGHR system and a second coolant temperature sensor coupled downstream of the heat exchanger may be indicated based on a difference between a modeled coolant temperature and a measured coolant temperature, the modeled coolant temperature based on one or more of heat transfer between a heater core and vehicle cabin, and heat transfer between exhaust flowing via the heat exchanger and coolant flowing through the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 10619534
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for using a crankcase vent tube pressure or flow sensor for diagnosing a location and nature of crankcase system integrity breach. The same sensor can also be used for diagnosing air filter plugging and PCV valve degradation. Use of an existing sensor to diagnose multiple engine components provides cost reduction and sensor compaction benefits.

  • Patent number: 10570844
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring cylinder air/fuel imbalances are provided. In one example approach, a method comprises, identifying a cylinder with a potential air/fuel imbalance based on crankshaft accelerations generated by a series of rich, lean, and stoichiometric conditions in the cylinder while keeping the engine at stoichiometry.

  • Patent number: 10513967
Abstract: Methods and systems are providing for improving engine coolant level estimation to reduce engine overheating. The level of fluid in a coolant overflow reservoir is inferred based on the fluid level in a hollow vertical standpipe fluidically coupled to the reservoir at top and bottom locations, while the fluid level in the standpipe is estimated based on echo times of an ultrasonic signal transmitted by a sensor positioned in a recess at the bottom of the vertical standpipe. Sensor output is compensated with a term based on vehicle motion parameters to compensate for fluid level distortion due to motion-induced slosh.

  • Publication number: 20190366446
Abstract: A tooling assembly for a lathe machine includes a tool platform configured to be mounted on the lathe machine, a milling tool holder fixedly secured to the tool platform and workable to releasably secure a thread milling tool therein, and a milling tool drive. The milling tool drive is operatively connected to the milling tool holder and operable to rotate the milling tool holder independently of a work holder to mill threads on the workpiece when a pipe thread milling tool is secured in the milling tool holder. Computer numerical control threading lathes and methods of milling threads in tubular workpieces are also described.

  • Publication number: 20190368397
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a heat exchanger phase change material installed as a component of a variable exhaust tuning system. In one example, a method may include absorbing excess heat energy from exhaust gases during and after an engine-on event within a heat exchanger material, releasing heat energy stored in the heat exchanger material during and after an engine-off event, and heating an adjustable exhaust valve with the heat energy stored in the heat exchanger material.
