  • Patent number: 6141679
Abstract: Multiple OSI TP service requests to which a particular AP-CRM interface call is mapped, and which are normally processed as individual events by an OSI TP protocol machine that conforms to the OSI TP Protocol Specification, are concatenated and processed by a modified OSI TP protocol machine as a single, atomic event. In this manner, performance and throughput are increased, while still maintaining conformance with the OSI TP Standard. Processing of OSI TP service requests will thus be optimized for the particular AP-CRM interface that the distributed transaction processing system supports. A new CRM-OSI TP programming interface is provided in place of the standard XAP-TP programming interface. The new interface maps each service of the particular AP-CRM interface to a respective, single service request of the new interface. Each service request of the new interface represents a concatenation of the OSI TP services to which the corresponding service of the particular AP-CRM is normally mapped.

  • Patent number: 5807146
Abstract: A two component connection system consisting of a female connector and a male connector. The female connector consists of three components joined together with a bolt. First is a cup that has the same inner and outer diameters as the tubing that forms the rest of the inner conductor. Second is a bushing stepped diametrically in three places. The first step accepts a standard anchor insulator. The second step is the same diameter as the outside of the inner conductor tubing. The third step has a diameter that allows it to fit snugly inside of the inner conductor tubing. The male connector consists of a cylinder with a bushing on one end that allows it to be assembled to inner conductor tubing and a diameter on the other end with a tandem pair of glands for watchband style springs that fits inside of the female connector cup. The cup of the female connector is fixed in position relative to the outer conductor by the captured anchor insulator.

  • Patent number: 5522889
Abstract: An apparatus is provided to restore eyelid function in a patient unable to voluntarily raise an eyelid. The apparatus includes a spiral torsion spring and pulley arrangement mounted in a housing that is implanted in the superior portion of the orbit of the eye. A wire connects the pulley to the eyelid. A spiral torsion spring provides the necessary spring force in tension to overcome the weight of the eyelid and draw the eyelid open. The natural muscles of eye closure are, however, sufficiently strong to overcome the spring tension thereby paying out wire from the pulley and closing the eye so as to provide normal blinking function. A position setting gear allows the biasing force of the spring to be selectively reduced sufficiently to allow the eye to remain closed for sleep or at other desired times. A method of treating ptosis is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5285847
Abstract: The invention is a water well surge block for agitation of particles in water wells. The surge block utilizes a novel one way valve comprising a shaft in connection with a rigid perforated cylinder having an upper and lower surface and a flexible membrane that overlies the upper surface of the membrane. As the surge block moves downward in the well or wellbore the membrane flexes away from said cylinder during downward movement of the block in order to permit the one way flow of fluid upward. The membrane closes against the cylinder to prevent the flow of water as the block moves upward.
