Publication number: 20210115628Abstract: A multi-level, elevated system for providing urban areas with a grid of transportation and transit Right-Of-Ways for automated-driving vehicles as large as a mobility bus of an approximate twenty five foot length, and for human-driven ambulances and police vehicles with the same size limit; all vehicles having fully loaded weight limits—allowing such vehicles to move by means of vehicle elevators back and forth in connecting with existing ground level transportation and transit Right-Of-Ways, and optionally to be driven manually when on such ground level existing Right-Of-Ways. Additional levels include: a Not-a-wall architecture level, a utilities level, a parks level, a housing level, a heavy lift level, an energy roof level, and an airplane level.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2019Publication date: April 22, 2021Inventor: Robert S. Publication number: 20200017240Abstract: A global warming or cooling mitigation and solar energy system, comprising tethered pairs of reflecting mirror systems of similar or identical size, situated at approximately Lagrange Point One between the Earth and the Sun; a first, Sun facing mirror system reflects radiation to a second, Earth or near Earth facing mirror system, the second mirror system targets the radiation to solar panels, other targets for purposes such as weather management, or to a third mirror system in a geosynchronous orbit, which in turn can target solar panels on Earth during night time. Because only one of the two tethered mirror systems is sending radiation to Earth, the result is typically a 50% reduction of total energy reaching the Earth from, as measured by the surface area of the two mirrors; this causes global cooling. Because electrical energy can be generated from the invention, it is anticipated the invention can be practiced on a for profit basis, with global warming mitigation an automatic public benefit.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2019Publication date: January 16, 2020Inventor: ROBERT S. Publication number: 20080172976Abstract: A reusable adjustable hanger, including multiple embodiments having varied features and attributes, for general use in forming horizontal concrete structures having permanent vertical support, depending on a supporting structure for horizontal support, vertically adjustable from both top and bottom, capable of receiving and supporting any or all of the following primary spanning ledgers: double walers, single joists, and dual joist structures joined at the middle and having a single joist member at each end, optionally comprising a vertical support structure, optionally comprising an attachable and removable central vertical structure allowing the use of 4Ă— lumber as primary spanning ledgers.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2007Publication date: July 24, 2008Inventors: Robert S. Carney, Richard L. Borg, Joseph L. Carpentier

Publication number: 20040065801Abstract: A free-standing computer document holder, having a rectangular viewing surface with a front top flange, and supported by right and left quadrilateral side structures having longer rear side edges and shorter front side edges. Due to the unequal length of the front and rear side edges, documents are supported and presented to a computer user at an angle to a work surface, such that the top of a document is above the bottom of the document. The computer document holder is situated above a computer keyboard, and is in front of, and/or over, and/or to the rear of, the keyboard. The computer user can operate the keyboard and/or a mouse while the computer document holder is situated as described. An optional monitor riser may be used to position the monitor such that the computer document holder does not obstruct a full view of the screen.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2002Publication date: April 8, 2004Inventor: Robert S. Carney

Patent number: 6260649Abstract: A vehicle and vehicle system(s) comprising: rechargeable battery cells, switches, electric circuits, control means, a drive train, and one or more motor-generator devices, such that for each motor-generator device the motor-generator device alternatively operates both: (a) as a motor at a higher voltage to drive the vehicle, and (b) at a lower voltage as a generator, transforming the vehicle's kinetic energy into electrical energy stored in the rechargeable battery cells as the motor-generator functions as a brake to decelerate and stop the vehicle, thus conserving and reusing energy that is dissipated and lost by other vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1999Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Inventor: Robert S. Carney, Jr.

Patent number: 6178714Abstract: A building system for the basic structure of a one-story, modular, temporary building, constructed primarily of fire-resistant materials, comprising: a foundation of poured, leveled concrete, having regularly spaced holes for vertical block assembly rods and/or columns; a plurality of wall blocks of standardized size(s) each block having one or more vertical block assembly holes running entirely through the said blocks; a plurality of block assembly rods and/or block assembly columns such that when a column of one or more wall blocks is placed on the foundation with the foundation and block holes aligned one or more block assembly rods and/or columns can be run through the block column and into the foundation thereby rendering an assembly of block(s), rod(s) and foundation that does not require mortar and is easy to disassemble; framing comprised of sloped top plates for a first set of parallel wall sections, spanning angle irons mounted to and perpendicular to the said sloped top plates, an optional steel I-Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Inventor: Robert S. Carney, Jr.

Patent number: 5770288Abstract: A label, comprising a label layer and a release layer, for general use in labeling objects. The label layer has a first side and a second side. The first side of the label layer forms a surface for receiving and retaining indicia. On the second side of the label layer, the peripheral edge is coated with a border of adhesive material, termed "primary adhesive material", which may be continuous, or which may have one or more small gaps. Within the peripheral edge border of primary adhesive material, there may be one or more areas of the same primary adhesive material, and one or more areas coated with either no adhesive material or with a weaker adhesive material, or with deadened primary adhesive material. The area(s) of primary adhesive material, including the border area(s) and the discontinuous inner area(s), form the primary adhesive bond between the label layer and a labeled object. One or more small slits or holes is cut into the label layer.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1996Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Inventor: Robert S. Carney, Jr.

Patent number: 5665445Abstract: A label for labeling a data storage object, comprising a first layer and a second layer. The first layer has a first side and a second side. The first side of the first layer forms the front side of the label and provides a surface for receiving indicia such as a written description of the contents of the data storage object. The second side of the first layer is substantially and completely covered with a removable bond adhesive. The second layer is a patterned application of a material, which can be an ink or varnish, or a continuous sheetlike layer of material, or another substance which forms a layer when applied to the second side of the first layer. The pattern of the second layer can be a geometrical pattern or a random pattern, or a combination of geometric and random patterns.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1995Date of Patent: September 9, 1997Inventor: Robert S. Carney, Jr.
