    Abstract: An improved shorthand notation and transcribing method for recording vocalized speech and transcribing such shorthand notation into conventional language text is disclosed. The method utilizes a conventional computer (10) for processing and storing shorthand data, the computer (10) being provided with a conventional keyboard (12) and a suitable output device, such as a printer (14), for printing the transcribed text. The method of the present invention generally comprises translating the vocalized speech into the improved shorthand of the present invention and inputting such shorthand data via the computer keyboard (12). Using software (16) provided to implement the method of the present invention, the shorthand data is then edited thereby creating a Shorthand File (24) stored on magnetic media.
