  • Publication number: 20110231214
Abstract: The invention provides automatically examines an Aerospace and Defense (A&D) company's financial data and evaluating factors affecting the company's value, and using this evaluation to assess the desirability of proposed changes in various stages of an A&D project. Specifically, the present invention evaluates changes in an A&D company's value through that company's profits and capital efficiency. The Program Profitability asset is a methodology and tool that helps teams quickly and systematically analyze high impact areas in the structure of a program to determine the key drivers of savings that are actionable for the client.

  • Patent number: 7971463
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a workpiece to a desired, non-planar configuration are provided. At least one friction stir forming tool, having a shoulder and a pin, is used to urge the workpiece to the desired configuration and friction stir form the workpiece. The forming tool can urge the workpiece against a contour surface of a die or a shoulder that is opposite the structural member from the tool. Thus, the forming tool plasticizes a portion of the workpiece and urges the workpiece to the desired configuration. In addition, the material properties of the workpiece can be improved by the friction stir processing.

  • Patent number: 5041954
Abstract: An identification inspection device includes a housing defining an enclosure, a chute defining a slot for receiving an identification card into the enclosure, a lighting system for illuminating the card, and a lens for viewing the card. The lens includes a magnifying lens to enhance the inspection of the identification card. The lighting system includes white light, and optionally ultraviolet light, to illuminate the card. The white light permits easy reading of the printed information supplied on the card. The ultraviolet light highlights tampered areas not readily visible in conventional white light.

  • Patent number: 4530162
Abstract: The specification discloses a system and method for boresighting a firearm using laser technology. More specifically, the system includes a light source for directing a collimated beam of light through the barrel and a muzzle insert defining an aperture having a smaller diameter than the collimated beam. Both the light source and muzzle insert aperture are concentric with the barrel bore, such that the light beam emitted from the bore is a coaxial extension of the barrel usable for boresighting purposes. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the muzzle insert includes a translucent material such that the location of the beam on the insert can be monitored to facilitate alignment of the beam with the barrel.

  • Patent number: 4378853
Abstract: A flow cavitation insert device is adapted to be positioned adjacent a conventional nozzle, the nozzle then is converted to a cavitation nozzle for a rock bit. The cavitation device is designed to operate with hydraulic drilling mud and comprises a circular adapter plate with a concentric orifice formed thereby. A cavitation-inducing, flow restrictor crossbar radially intersects the center of the orifice formed by the plate. The crossbar is secured to the circular disc where the opposite ends of the flow restrictor come in contact with an axially aligned wall forming the inside diameter of the orifice.
