  • Patent number: 8610881
Abstract: A Lidar measurement device for vehicular traffic surveillance and method for use of same are disclosed. In one embodiment, video circuitry acquires video of a field of view having a target therein. A steerable laser progressively scans the field of view to identify targets. The steerable laser then progressively, repeatedly scans a sub-field of the field of view containing the target. A processing circuit portion determines target data of the target based upon range and time measurements associated with reflected laser range-finding signals from the scans of the sub-field. The processing circuit then integrates the target data into the video such that the video may displayed with an image of the target and target data, such as a speed measurement, associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 7672782
Abstract: An enhanced police Doppler direction sensing radar detects possibly dangerous traffic conditions during certain vehicle maneuvers such as U-turns and returns to travel after roadside stops. By monitoring a host or primary vehicle speed, speed transitions, transmission state (e.g. gear selection), and the closing vehicle position, range and speed, a number of selectable conditions are detected, resulting in an alert indication to a primary vehicle operator. User preferences and thresholds allow the traffic alert function to be customized according to a primary vehicle operator's desire to suppress alerts in situations which the user does not deem dangerous. The traffic alert function may be automatically triggered under certain detected conditions, or manually initiated when the primary vehicle operator intends to make a driving maneuver.

  • Patent number: 7411544
Abstract: A system for processing radar data from two or more areas of interest is provided, such as for simultaneously processing vehicle speeds in the opposite lane in front of the patrol vehicle and in the opposite lane behind the patrol vehicle. The system includes an antenna signal processor that receives radar data from one or more radar antennae and generates speed data for a first vehicle travelling in a first direction relative to a radar observation point and a second vehicle travelling in a second direction relative to the radar observation point. A display generator system receives the speed data and user-entered display control data, and generates user-readable display data based on the speed data and the user-entered display control data.

  • Patent number: 7218271
Abstract: A system for processing vehicle speed data for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a front antenna assembly of the vehicle generating a front digital signal, and a rear antenna assembly of the vehicle generating a rear digital signal. A fast Fourier transform system converts the front digital signal into front frequency shift data and the rear digital signal into rear frequency shift data. A patrol speed system matches the front frequency shift data and the rear frequency shift data and generates a vehicle speed for the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7209492
Abstract: System and method for compensating for DS0 timing source transients, such as may occur during a switchover to a new external reference, is described. In one embodiment, an SFI control signal is monitored for embedded frame position information. When the frame position information is initially detected, a 10-bit frame clock counter is reset to zero. The counter is then incremented using an 8.192 MHz clock. From that point on, each time the SFI frame position information is detected, the value of the frame clock counter is checked. If the counter value is zero, the counter continues to run freely. If the counter value is non-zero and the most significant bit (“MSB”) thereof is zero, the count of the frame clock counter is held for one clock period. If the counter value is non-zero and the MSB thereof is one, the count of the frame clock counter is advanced by a value of two, rather than one, for one clock period.

  • Patent number: 7197032
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus, system and method of increasing port availability for a communication switch. First, second and third M port crossbars are arranged to provide a crossbar with a increased number of ports available for the communication switch. K ports of a first M port crossbar are individually coupled to K ports of a second and a third M port crossbar via interconnect buses. Further, K ports of the second and third M port crossbars are individually coupled via interconnect buses resulting in L available ports on each the M port crossbars in which M>L>K.

  • Patent number: 7190882
Abstract: An in-car video system with inputs for one or more analog or digital video cameras, one or more of which may be wireless, and having inputs for one or more microphones, one or more of which may be wireless. The system includes circuitry to digitize the input signals, if necessary, merge the data with system status data and compress the resulting data with any algorithm, preferably MPEG 4. A digital data cassette recorder records the compressed data, and a decompression circuit and active matrix display and audio channel provide monitoring capability of live video and audio. In some embodiments, a hard disk continuously records all data and archives previously recorded data to tape when so ordered to provide after-the-fact recording capability. In some embodiments, anti-tampering circuitry renders the recorded data tamper-proof, and a local playback circuit allows local playback of either live or previously recorded video.

  • Patent number: 6985968
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing state machine transitional performance in a high speed link (HSL) protocol stack at an application node disposed in a network. An input event decoder and a state decoder decode an input event and state-specific context information relating to a particular protocol layer involved in a layer service for a specific connection. The decoded state-specific context information is utilized for personalizing a generic state machine (GSM) logic structure in order to effectuate a layer-specific state logic package that is partitionable into a control plane and a data plane. The decoded input event is processed by the personalized state machine to generate encodable output event and next-state information. In parallel with the control plane operations, parametric tests and data operations with respect to the layer service are performed in the data plane, thereby improving state machine transitional processing in the application node.

  • Patent number: 6965959
Abstract: A system and method for introducing user-defined (e.g., proprietary) signals into a standard backplane. A front side backplane portion is provided with a set of connector holes that are electrically separated from corresponding connector holes provided on the backplane's rear side portion. Thus, whereas the separated front side connector portion is operable with standard bus signals, the rear side connector portion can support an independent signal pathway to carry one or more user-defined signals.
