  • Patent number: 8827446
Abstract: Embodiments described herein may provide an electro-active lens. The electro-active lens may comprise a first substrate, a second substrate, and an electro-active element disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The electro-active element may be configured to alter the optical power of at least a portion of the electro-active lens. The first substrate may comprise a different material than the second substrate.

  • Publication number: 20120301604
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an electro-active lens may be provided. The method may comprise the steps of providing a substrate having a first surface; disposing a mask over at least a portion of the first surface of the substrate, where the mask comprises an electro-static plastic material and where the mask has at least one opening; and depositing a layer of material through the at least one opening of the mask.

  • Patent number: 6264403
Abstract: A pile (1) has a plurality of external parallel helical fins (30,31,32) along substantially the whole length of the pile (1). At least one of the fins (30,31,32) has a wedge-shape cross-section. The pile (1) can be driven into a substrate by applying a force to the pile (1) substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis (2) of the pile (1), the force having substantially no rotational component about the longitudinal axis (2). The helical fins (30,31,32) on the pile (1) cause the pile (1) to rotate in the substrate and thereby penetrate the substrate as the force is applied.

  • Patent number: 5360561
Abstract: Lubricating compositions containing a color temperature indicator are disclosed. The compositions irreversibly change their color when exposed to temperatures exceeding a predetermined limit temperature. The compositions include, as an essential component, from 0.2% to 4% weight of metal dithiocarbamates or dialkyldithiocarbamates, preferably of antimony and/or lead in combination with a dye, preferably a blue dye, in an amount of from 50 ppm to 2000 ppm. Other components, such as epoxy resins, may be also present, to increase and/or extend the range of temperatures in which the changes of color are observed. The compositions are useful as indicators of overheating of lubricated elements under severe operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 5236607
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the preparation of a lithium soap thickened grease which consists of heating a mixture of an oil and a lithium base, and optionally also a calcium base, to at least 100.degree. C., then adding a C.sub.10-24 saturated or unsaturated fatty acid, and heating the resulting mixture at a temperature in the range 110.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. until a thickened grease is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5184768
Abstract: A solder interconnection verification system is used in verifying the formation of solder joints which are hidden from view under a component (25). Solder material (28) is attached or reflow soldered to component solder pads (26). The substrate solder pads (22) have a small solderable portion (24) attached to, and extending outward from, the solder pads (22). The component is placed on the substrate (20) and reflow soldered to wet the solder (38) to the substrate solder pads (32 and 34), creating an irregularly shaped solder joint (38). The joint (38) thus formed is inspected using x-rays after reflow.
