  • Patent number: 6235950
Abstract: A method of producing hydrofluorocarbons and methods of producing other commercially attractive compounds formed as by-products of hydrofluorocarbon production by using ketones as a principal reactant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 1999
Date of Patent: May 22, 2001
    Assignee: Honeywell International
Inventors: Hsueh S. Tung, Robert S. Wedinger
  • Patent number: 5726308
Abstract: A process for preparing high purity solutions of highly substituted lithium amide bases by direct reaction of lithium metal with highly substituted amine bases alone or in an ether solvent, a hydrocarbon solvent or in a mixed ether/hydrocarbon solvent mixture, optionally in the presence of a catalyst selected from tin salts and transition metal salts of Groups 4B, 5B, 6B, 7B, and 8 of the Periodic Table.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 1996
Date of Patent: March 10, 1998
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Randy W. Hall, Robert S. Wedinger, Terry L. Rathman, James A. Schwindeman
  • Patent number: 5282320
Abstract: The process for deacidification of at least one book or other similarly sized cellulosic product the steps of which include:a) predrying a plurality of books or other similarly sized cellulosic product;b) deacidifying the dried plurality of books or another similarly sized cellulosic product using a deacidification solvent solution; andc) drying the deacidified plurality of books or another similarly sized cellulosic product to reduce the solvent content by use of a vacuum, wherein high frequency radiation is used along with either or both steps a) and c) to aid in drying: in which the improvement comprises, dividing the plurality of books or a similarly sized cellulosic product into two or more sections with a material having a high power loss factor to reduce the variation in the high frequency electric field in a high frequency drier and promote uniform heating of at least one book or a similarly sized cellulosic product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 1991
Date of Patent: February 1, 1994
    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Robert S. Wedinger, Shawn P. Cavanagh, Kent N. Smith
  • Patent number: 5264243
Abstract: This invention provides a process for deacidifying paper by contacting the paper one or more times with hydrocarbon or halocarbon solutions of certain magnesium and/or zinc alkoxyalkoxides which may have been treated with carbon dioxide to yield low viscosity solutions, drying the books and rehydrating the books.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 1992

  • Patent number: 5094888
Abstract: A process for strengthening the cellulose in materials which have been treated with an alkaline organometallic compound selected from a metal alkyl, metal alkoxide or alkyl metal alkoxide to deacidify the cellulose and which cellulosic material is wet with treatment solvent, by treating the undried cellulosic material with a polar monomer and then drying the cellulose material and polymerizing the monomer by subjecting the treated cellulose to vacuum and heat.
