Patent number: 11944538Abstract: A method of reducing regurgitation between native leaflets of an atrioventricular heart valve includes advancing a delivery catheter through a sheath, wherein the delivery catheter has a valve leaflet coaptation element mounted over a distal end portion. The coaptation element is positioned within the heart valve and is permitted to radially expand from a compressed configuration to an enlarged configuration for filling a gap between the native leaflets of the heart valve. After deployment, the position of the coaptation element is fixed relative to the heart valve, thereby reducing regurgitation between the native leaflets of the heart valve and improving heart function.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2022Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: EDWARDS LIFESCIENCES CORPORATIONInventors: Stanton J. Rowe, Robert S. Schwartz, Robert A. Van Tassel, Vivian Khalil, Erin M. Spinner, Neil S. Zimmerman, Alexander J. Siegel

Patent number: 8605954Abstract: Methods and systems for evaluating an imager that produces bi-chrome images from a scanner or a digital imaging device. The bi-chrome images have pixels of a first and second color. A method of evaluating an imager includes generating an image with a hand-held imaging device, the image having pixels of a first color and a second color. The image is analyzed to determine information about particles of the first and second color contained in the image. Each particle comprises contiguous pixels of the same color. The particle information is information on particle size and count of particles of the first and second colors. The image is determined to be acceptable or unacceptable based on predetermined objective criteria and the particle information.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2012Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: United States Postal ServiceInventor: Robert S. Zimmerman

Patent number: 8594386Abstract: Methods and systems for evaluating an imager that produces bi-chrome images from a scanner or a digital imaging device. A method of evaluating an imager includes generating an image with a hand-held imaging device, the image having pixels of a first color and a second color. The generated image may be analyzed to determine information about particles of the first and second color contained in the image. Each particle comprises contiguous pixels of the same color, and the determined particle information comprises information on the size and count of the particles of the first and second color. The method may further include determining if the image is unacceptable based on predetermined objective criteria and the particle information.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2012Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: United States Postal ServiceInventor: Robert S. Patent number: 8553945Abstract: Methods and systems for evaluating an imager that produces bi-chrome images from a scanner or a digital imaging device, the bi-chrome images having pixels of a first and second color. In one embodiment, a method for evaluating an imager includes generating an image that contains pixels of a first color and a second color. The image may be analyzed to determine information about particles of the first and second color. The particles may be described as contiguous pixels of the same color, and the particle information may relate to the size and quantity of the particles of each color. The method may further include determining if the image is unacceptable based on the particle information compared to predefined objective criteria.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2012Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: The United States Postal ServiceInventor: Robert S.
