  • Publication number: 20250069384
Abstract: ABSTRACT: An instrument for processing droplets in a microfluidic system. The instrument captures a time sequence of images of a droplet as it passes through a channel in a microfluidic system. The instrument also processes each image of the sequence of images using a convolutional neural network to count a number of cells or other entities visible in each image the droplet. This involves processing the count of the number of cells or other entities visible in each image of the droplet to determine an estimated number of cells or other entities in the droplet. The instrument controls a microfluidic process performed on the droplet, e.g. droplet dispensing, responsive to the estimated number of cells or other entities in the droplet. The instrument uses the changing orientation and disposition of droplet contents in combination with machine learning to improve monoclonality assurance.

  • Publication number: 20060239189
Abstract: Described herein is a method of controlling call admission for packet switched networks, each network including at least two local area networks (50, 60) and a connecting network (70). The method comprises determining success rates of previous calls from a first local area network to a second local area network and deciding to drop the call attempt based on the success rates of previous calls. In one embodiment, the current packet loss rate for calls from the first local area network to the second local area network is also determined, and the decision to drop the call attempt is based on that current packet loss rate. Additionally, the decision to drop the call attempt may be based on both the current packet loss rate and the success rates of previous calls.

  • Publication number: 20060193255
Abstract: Described herein is a method of controlling calls for packet switched networks, each network including at least two local area networks (50, 60) and a connecting network (70). The method comprises the steps of determining an acceptable packet loss rate for a call to be established between two of the local area networks, comparing actual packet loss rate to the acceptable packet loss rate, and dropping the call if the actual packet loss rate is greater than the acceptable packet loss rate. determining for how long a period the actual packet loss rate has been happening and utilising that period in deciding to drop the call. A recorded announcement may be played when the call is to be dropped. Alternatively, the priority of the transmission of the continuous stream of data can be changed when the actual packet loss rate is not acceptable and the above steps are repeated. Ideally, data relating to dropped calls is stored for future use.

The connecting network (70) comprises a plurality of routing nodes (72, 74, 76, 78, 80) for routing the burst of trial data of the same size as the packet to be transmitted from a first node (52, 54) in a first local area network (50) to second node (62, 64) in a second local area network (60) via the connecting network (70). The connecting network (70) comprises a plurality of routing nodes (72, 74, 76, 78, 80) for routing the burst of trial data to the second node in the second local area network along a particular path.

  • Patent number: 6682005
Abstract: Raw material containing precious metals and heavy minerals is introduced into a comminuting chamber. The raw material falls onto rotating chains which drive the material against the side wall of the chamber with sufficient velocity to cause the raw material to fracture. Air flows upwardly at the side wall and classifies the particles into a first fraction which falls to the floor of the chamber and a second fraction which is carried upward to a trommel. Large particles from the trommel are recycled to the chamber while fines are discarded as tailings. The rate of upward flow of air in the chamber, the rate of rotation of the chains and the size of particles separated by the trommel are all adjusted in order to ensure that the particles that collect on the floor of the chamber are rich in precious metals and heavy minerals.

  • Patent number: 5810020
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for denitrifying tobacco materials and removing barium from tobacco materials, comprising mixing an aqueous-immiscible organic solvent containing a crown ether with an aqueous solution containing soluble components from tobacco materials, agitating this mixture, and separating the organic phase containing a crown ether-cation-nitrate (or nitrite) complex from the aqueous phase containing the denitrified tobacco materials, wherein the cation consists essentially of barium and potassium. There is further disclosed a process for eliminating tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) from cured, denitrified tobacco material, comprising contacting the denitrified tobacco material with a trapping sink, wherein the trapping sink comprises a select transition metal complex which is readily nitrosated to form a nitrosyl complex with little kinetic or thermodynamic hindrance.
