  • Patent number: 5504827
Abstract: A programmable optical filter and an optical circuit arrangement using the filter has an optical demultiplexer for a spatial separation of the wavelengths from one another and a control arrangement composed of either an optical absorption modulator or an optical switch for controlled influencing of the light of the wavelength independent of other wavelengths. An optical amplifier may be arranged with each of the optical switches or absorption modulators.

  • Patent number: 5216740
Abstract: A component having an integrated waveguide of a semiconductor material with buried end faces, whose surface normals extend at an angle relative to the longitudinal direction of the waveguide.

  • Patent number: 5184247
Abstract: An arrangement for operation as an optical feedback amplifier which is composed of a DFB laser whose grating selects a wavelength that differs by so much from the wavelength at which the amplification medium has a maximum gain that a constant amplification effect at this beamed-in wavelength is achieved by a progressive quenching of the emission of this wavelength selected by the grating given external optical irradiation via a coupled waveguide of light having a wavelength in the proximity of the wavelength of the gain maximum of the amplification medium.

  • Patent number: 4869568
Abstract: An arrangement comprising a planarly extending thin-film waveguide, which is particularly useful when employed with devices that require a relatively high power and highly focused laser radiation. The arrangement comprises a planarly extending thin-film waveguide of a structure composed of a plurality of strip waveguides proceeding at a distance next to one another and a diffraction grating having rulings of a grating proceeding in a direction perpendicular to the running direction of the strip waveguides. The spacing between the neighboring rulings of the waveguides is equal to either the wave length of the wave being propagated in the thin-film waveguide or to a multiple of the wave length, and the wave is either an electromagnetic wave or an acoustical wave.
