  • Patent number: 8150649
Abstract: There is described a method for operating an automation system which comprises at least two measuring modules, each connected to a higher order processing unit in order to communicate therewith. The higher order processing unit is informed of an event that is recorded by one of the at least two measuring modules. The processing unit then informs any available measuring module of the event.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 3, 2012
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Thomas Borger, Walter Kreb, Ulrich Lehmann, Robert Schwab, Hans-Günther Sieberling, Raimund Trockel
  • Publication number: 20100090795
Abstract: A method for wear-minimized operation of a component of an installation and a corresponding installation are disclosed. A sensor for state identification is associated with the component and transmits a sensor signal to an evaluation unit. The evaluation unit checks the sensor signal to ascertain whether a wear-promoting operating state is present, and in the event of the presence of such an operating state the component is driven such that a change in the operating state in favor of an operating state with less wear takes place. If, for example, a component is operated at its resonant frequency, it is ensured that the component is operated at a slightly different rotation speed, at which far less severe oscillations occur.

  • Publication number: 20090319205
Abstract: There is described a monitoring system, especially a vibration monitoring system, and a method for operating said system. The system is finely adjustable between purely single-channel to one fault tolerant and limited two fault tolerant without the necessity of additional special hardware components.

  • Patent number: 7512727
Abstract: There is described a periphery unit for an automatic device, which can be actuated as an analog input and as an analog output. A number of connections which are to be used as inputs and the number of connections which are to be used as outputs can be adapted in a flexible manner on the respective application from a predetermined number of connections of the periphery unit. As a result, a redundant automatic device wherein said types of periphery units can be used, is provided.

  • Patent number: 6904388
Abstract: A method for preventing or minimizing operational failures in a technical installation (1) is disclosed, in which, in accordance with influence quantities (17) accessible by a control system, at least one criterion (18-20) is defined so as to forecast an impending failure of one or more parts of the installation. This criterion is constantly monitored at short time intervals so as to establish a forecast of the expected failure probability. This forecast makes it possible, if necessary, to take early countermeasures (21-23) for preventing the failure of the installation or to take steps for minimizing the effects of the imminent failure.
