  • Publication number: 20050248962
Abstract: A nightlight provides therapeutic effects on the human body and mind including promoting relaxation, sleep and wakefulness. The nightlight includes a housing, a light source, a central processor, one or more controls, and a power supply. The light source produces at least three illumination modes having various light properties. The light modes include a sleep readiness mode, a sleep help mode and a wake-up mode. The sleep readiness mode produces light at about 40 lumens and preferably includes only light from the blue and yellow portions of the visible light spectrum. The sleep help mode produces substantially monochromatic light in the blue or green spectrum. Preferably, the light undulates at a frequency of one cycle per second to one cycle per minute at a luminosity of between 5 lumens and 25 lumens, which can be selected to automatically decrease by the user. Meanwhile, the wake-up mode produces substantially full spectrum light at approximately 1,600 lumens.

  • Publication number: 20010037222
Abstract: A system and method providing accurate, quantifiable and reproducible pain assessment documentation utilized in pain management. In particular, the pain assessment system can be implemented as follows. A description input mechanism prompts the collection of patient pain episode data, and a pain assessment mechanism assesses the pain episode data for the patient. A pain score generation mechanism then generates a multidimensional pain score from the pain episode data to quantify a pain condition for the patient. The method can be broadly summarized by the following steps, acquiring pain episode data for the patient; performing pain assessment for the patient; and generating a multidimensional pain score that quantifies a pain condition for the patient.

  • Patent number: 6022145
Abstract: The container closure device for attachment to a container includes a substantially planar sidewall segment having a front surface, rear surface and plurality of sides. Formed through the sidewall segment from the front surface to the rear surface is an orifice for permitting the contents of a container to pass through. The container closure device further includes a flap which extends from the top of the sidewall segment by means of a hinge or the like. The hinge permits the flap to fold upwardly to keep the orifice unobstructed, or fold downwardly to cover and obstruct the orifice. The container closure device is attached to a container by an adhesive means.
