  • Patent number: 10928218
Abstract: A mobile communication device initiates display of a point of interest as being located at particular coordinates on a map. In response to receiving an input command from a user of the mobile communication device indicating that the particular location of the point of interest as specified by the map is incorrect, the mobile communication device forwards a communication (specifying a location of the mobile communication device and an identity of the point of interest) over a network to a map management resource. Based on feedback from the mobile communication device, the map management resource updates map data an actual location of the point of interest as opposed to an incorrect location as specified by the particular coordinates on the map. Subsequent distribution of the updated map information from the map management resource specifies the proper coordinates of the point of interest in the geographical region.

  • Patent number: 10521213
Abstract: At a carousel origin server, an indication is obtained that at least one of a plurality of consumer premises equipment connected to a video content network requires a software upgrade. Responsive to obtaining the indication, the carousel origin server loads onto a carousel at least one image required for the software upgrade. The at least one image required for the software upgrade is broadcast from the carousel to the at least one of the plurality of consumer premises equipment, for a predetermined period. Subsequent to the predetermined period, the at least one image required for the software upgrade is removed from the carousel.

  • Patent number: 9621934
Abstract: A file is multicast from an error-correcting multicast apparatus to a plurality of endpoints forming a first multicast group, over a network segmented into at least second and third multicast groups. The second and third multicast groups are subsets of the first multicast group. Given ones of the endpoints are assigned to the second and third multicast groups based on likelihood of experiencing similar errors. At the error-correcting multicast apparatus, over the network, a retransmission request is obtained from a first one of the endpoints, based on at least one of loss and corruption of a portion of the file during the multicasting of the file to the first one of the endpoints. The portion of the file is retransmitted, via multicasting, over the network, to one of the second and third multicast groups.

  • Publication number: 20150182785
Abstract: A modular sizing fit cycle, having an enclosed, acoustically dampened transmission, and calibrated height and angle adjusters, each designed to fit an individual to a bicycle according to specific measurements attained during a controlled ride. The sizing fit cycle is highly portable, having distinct pieces that facilitate portability. Additionally, the sizing fit cycle is preferably equipped with a quiet, chain and belt-driven transmission at the rear, facilitating accurate measurements via a load generator and providing a realistic simulation of a stable cycling session.

  • Publication number: 20150039725
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for resolving resource contention in a content distribution network. In one embodiment, a manager entity at a subscriber premises manages requests for content from various subscriber devices in communication therewith. The manager identifies when there is a conflict, and implements a mechanism to resolve the conflict, such as by determining whether one or more conflicting content items may be provided according to an alternate delivery scheme. In one variant, the apparatus may further implement one or more rules for determining whether to adjust delivery of requested content. In another variant, the disclosed concepts may be utilized to provide efficient delivery of content, by providing alternate delivery prior when doing so would be more efficient than allowing for delivery at a first scheduled date/time. The system may take into account bandwidth or network constraints, whether other requests are pending (although there are still sufficient resources), etc.
