  • Publication number: 20050136375
Abstract: An apparatus agitates fluid in a root canal of a living patient during cleaning of the root canal. The apparatus includes a tapered tip member having a proximate end and a distal end for insertion into said root canal. The tip member is vibrated or rotated by a driving device for the tapered tip member, which is connected at a proximate end for connection to the driving device. The tip member is made of an elastomeric, non-cutting material having a smooth surface or a textured surface of non-cutting elastomeric material. Optionally, the tip member may include abrasive particles impregnated therein, or coated thereon.

  • Patent number: 6162202
Abstract: A flexible irrigation syringe tip with a "Luer Lock" or other type of connector commonly used in medical tubing includes a flexible needle. The needle shaft is preferably made of a material which is bendable but which returns to its original shape, such as silicone, polypropylene or other flexible metal alloys and has an open or a closed tip. The tip may be flat or rounded. The hollow shaft of the flexible syringe itself is parallel sided with at least one hole in it to allow the irrigation solution to flush the canal when inserted. Preferably, to insure backflowing of the fluid from the tip area of the syringe needle backwards up the tooth canal, the at least one hole is a lateral side port, which lateral port causes the exiting of fluid in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of flexible syringe needle. The shaft may have at least one fluid diverter, such as a flute or groove to help direct the debris up and out of the tooth. This flute or groove may be straight or spiraled.

  • Patent number: 6024565
Abstract: An endodontic measuring kit includes a plurality of user selectable elongated cylindrical diameter measuring rods having graded diameters known to the user for insertion as probes into an endodontic canal wherein the diameter of the natural lower root tip aperture and length of the tooth canal from apical to coronal end are to be determined. The kit also has a plurality of user selectable elongated tapered rods having graded diameters, wherein the tapered rods each have a top cylindrical portion with optional length measurement markings thereon for observing too the depth from the upper coronal crown end to the lower root apical tip aperture.
