  • Patent number: 5769609
Abstract: A liquid-ring compressor having a rotor mounted in a compressor housing. The rotor is mounted eccentrically relative to the center axis of the compressor housing. At least one control disk is arranged on one of the end faces of the rotor. The control disk is provided with a suction slot and a pressure slot for the feed and discharge of the medium to be compressed, respectively. The control disk also has an encircling distribution groove in the area covered radially by the hub of the rotor. Operating liquid is introduced into a feed opening, which leads to the distribution groove, to seal an axial gap between the control disk and the rotor hub. A blocking element projects radially into the distribution groove and is provided on the side of the feed opening that has the greater pressure differential between the pressure of the operating liquid entering the feed opening and the pressure in the rotor cells. The blocking element improves the sealing of the axial gap.

  • Patent number: 5647728
Abstract: An improved liquid ring machine having a housing that has a circular inside contour and side shields arranged at its faces, at least one of which is provided with a control disk. The rotor of the machine is eccentrically mounted in the side shields to rotate relative to the machine housing. The rotor comprises a hub, blades, and a center wall that extends radially over the entire circumference of the rotor from the rotor hub to the free end of the blades. A partition wall is attached to the machine housing, lies in the same plane as the center wall and surrounds the center wall such that a gap exists between the center wall and the partition wall. The gap may be easily adjusted by pivoting the machine housing relative to the side shields, i.e., the control disks, and the rotor, around a pivot point that lies outside of the center axis. The machine housing may be secured in place in its pivoted position in each instance.

  • Patent number: 5639221
Abstract: A liquid ring compressor comprising at least one side shield having a suction connection leading to a suction chamber and a discharge connection leading to a pressure chamber. A cam disk spatially delimits the suction and pressure chambers from the working chamber of the liquid ring compressor. The cam disk comprises a suction slot that establishes fluid-flow communication between the suction chamber and the working chamber and a delivery slot that establishes fluid-flow communication between the pressure chamber and the working chamber. A separating and quieting configuration is provided in the suction chamber to separate and settle a portion of liquid from a drawn-in gas-liquid mixture so that the separated liquid may be removed from the suction chamber. The removal of a portion of the liquid prevents compressor performance from decreasing.

  • Patent number: 5401141
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiple-flow liquid ring pump having a rotor housing (1) which surrounds the rotor of the pump and on each of the two end sides of which there is arranged a side shield (2 or 3) which extends at least partially beyond the rotor housing (1) in radial direction, the two side shields (2 and 3) extending in each case beyond the rotor housing (1) at the same point with respect to each other of the circumference, and each side shield (2 or 3) having in its projecting region (corner 16) an inlet opening (7) and an outlet opening (8) on the side facing the corresponding other side shield, in which pump the opposite lying inlet and outlet openings (7 and 8) of the side shields (2 and 3) are connected to each other by connecting tubes (9) that extend parallel to the rotor housing (1), and a suction opening (13) for a feed line and a delivery opening (14) for a discharge line being provided.

  • Patent number: 5211543
Abstract: The present invention relates a liquid-ring pump, in which the impeller (5) of the pump is rotatably arranged in the pump chamber formed by the pump housing (2), and the pump chamber is closed off by a disk cam 6 which has at least one inlet slit (8) and several output ports (10). Arranged between the disk cam (6) and a side shield (1) covering this disk cam is a suction chamber (7), connected to the inlet slit (8), and a pressure chamber (9), connected to the output ports. At least one of the output ports (10) is covered by a valve plate which may be moved away from this output port and be supported on a collector plate (12) affixed to the housing. The assembly of the valve plate is facilitated in that the collector plate (12) is connected to the side shield (1), and the valve plate (11) is guided by guide elements (14) penetrating through corresponding openings (15) in the valve plate (11), which openings are arranged between the collector plate (12) and the disk cam (6).
