  • Publication number: 20180057845
Abstract: A biocatalytic method is provided for preparing p-vinyl phenols by a three-step, one-pot reaction according to the following reaction scheme: wherein the three steps include: (a) optionally substituted phenol (1) is bound to pyruvic acid (BTS) to form optionally substituted tyrosine (2) by the catalytic action of a tyrosine phenol-lyase (TPL) and in the presence of ammonium ions, (b) ammonia is eliminated from tyrosine (2) by the catalytic action of a tyrosine ammonia-lyase (TAL) or a phenyl ammonia-lyase (PAL) to produce optionally substituted p-coumaric acid (3), and (c) p-coumaric acid (3) is subjected to a decarboxylation reaction by the catalytic action of a phenolic acid decarboxylase (PAD), to produce the desired, optionally substituted p-vinyl phenol (4); and (d) wherein the generated CO2 is removed from the reaction system to shift the chemical equilibrium of all three reaction steps (a), (b) and (c) towards the product side.

  • Patent number: 9799997
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing and a conductive contact member disposed in the housing. A first contact portion of the conductive contact member receives a blade contact of an electrical device and a second contact portion electrically engages an inserted electrical wire. A spring member is disposed in the housing and is connected to the contact member. A rotatable member is movable between first and second positions. When the rotatable member is in the second position the spring member secures an inserted wire in electrical engagement with the conductive contact member and prevents removal of the inserted wire. When the rotatable member is in the first position the spring member allows for removal of an inserted wire and allows for insertion of a wire in the housing.

  • Patent number: 9491260
Abstract: A control circuit co-displays a share-content selection opportunity (such as, but not limited to, a user-selectable icon button) when also displaying shareable content. Upon detecting selection of this share-content selection opportunity, the control circuit displays a plurality of different selectable content-sharing services. By one approach these different selectable content-sharing services are displayed in a window that partially, but not fully, overlies the shareable content. These teachings also provide for displaying a preselected service window for a given one of the plurality of different selectable content-sharing services. The preselected service can be selected, for example, on the basis of having been a most-recently selected one of the different selectable content-sharing services (either in general or in conjunction with the particular application as corresponds to the shareable content).

  • Patent number: 9485620
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for delivering emergent event notifications to a user's Mobile Device. Map and Calendar applications are polled with correlations made between map locations and event information. Geo-Fence Boundaries are established for map locations which are inherited by their associated events. Penetration of a Geo-Fence Boundary by a Mobile Device running the Mobile Application triggers a search for events that are associated with the established Geo-Fence Boundary. Filtered Notifications of event options of interest to the user are transmitted to the Mobile Device based on pre-established and dynamic variables and whether the user can arrive at the event while it is underway. Upon selection of an event by the user, the Mobile Device provides route and navigation guidance to the selected location.
