  • Publication number: 20020140558
Abstract: A method of making a magnetomechanical electronic article surveillance marker is provided that, in one embodiment, includes deposition or placing of at least one elongated bias magnet onto a substrate, depositing a cavity layer onto the substrate where the cavity layer defines an elongated cavity adjacent the bias magnet. Placing a magnetomechanical resonator into the cavity and sealing a cover onto the cavity layer wherein the resonator is captured in the cavity and free to mechanically vibrate substantially unencumbered. The substrate itself may be magnetic thereby eliminating a separate bias magnet. In an alternate embodiment, a cavity is molded in a plastic substrate sized to fit a resonator, and a cover is sealed to the substrate to capture a resonator in the cavity. At least one bias magnet is placed onto the cover adjacent the cavity and a second cover is sealed to the substrate, to the first cover, and to the bias fixing the bias in place adjacent the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6404322
Abstract: A new and improved fusible link having opposite ends. The fusible link comprises two pieces each having opposite ends. One of the opposite ends of each piece defines the opposite ends of the link. The other end of said pieces overlap each other and have a eutectic solder therebetween. Means is provided adjacent the other end of the pieces to strengthen the link in tension between the opposite ends when said solder is in shear and to reduce creep. Means is also provided adjacent the other ends of the pieces to separate the pieces and break the linkage upon the eutectic solder reaching the eutectic temperature. The new and improved fusible link in a specific embodiment utilizes a crimp and crimp sliding surfaces to prevent creep at temperatures lower than the eutectic temperature for providing separation of the link upon the solder being heated to a eutectic temperature.

  • Patent number: 6278708
Abstract: An apparatus and method for bundling frame relay packets under one or more common DLCIs. A plurality of frame relay packets is received in a frame relay access device. A common bundling DLCI is associated with each of the frame relay packets based on a configuration parameter that can be modified by a human operator to have at least a first state or a second state. When in the first state, the configuration parameter indicates that the common bundling DLCI is included in voice frames generated in the frame relay access device. In the second state, the configuration parameter indicates that the common bundling DLCI is not included in voice frames generated in the frame relay access device. Each of the frame relay packets has an initial DLCI which is used to determine a multiplexing value. Each of the frame relay packets is transmitted over a frame relay network using the common bundling DLCI and its respective multiplexing value.

The first layer is a combined text-interface generator and Hypertext Transport Protocol client. The second layer is a combined Hypertext Transport Protocol server and Simpler Network Management Protocol manager. The third layer is a Simple Network Management Protocol agent that has direct access to the configuration data of the access device. A user can manage the device through the embedded text-interface generator, by using an external HTTP client to communicate with the embedded HTTP server, or by using an external SNMP manager to communicate with the embedded SNMP agent. Techniques are disclosed for embedding SNMP information in messages passed between HTTP clients and servers.
