  • Patent number: 5260018
Abstract: The finished metallic material of this invention is constituted by an agglomerate of finely divided metallic powder, the grains of which are bonded together by means of an organic substance, the volume of such substance being comprised between 0.5 and 7% of the total volume of the material. In order to obtain said material, the metallic powder is mixed with the organic substance, the mixture is moulded under high pressure and after removal from the mould, the material is heated in order to harden the organic substance. The material is employed to advantage for elements constituting horological articles.

  • Patent number: 5065374
Abstract: The watch case of this invention includes a caseband-bezel formed of solid leather. According to one method of manufacture one begins with a blank of leather having dimensions slightly greater than those of the finished article such blank being subjected to the following operations in succession: drying, impregnation, hardening, machining to final tolerances and finishing.Natural or reconstituted leather may be employed.

  • Patent number: 4127554
Abstract: A method for manufacturing molded thermoplastic products formed of crystallizable plastic material containing reinforcing elements. The reinforcing elements are added to the molten thermoplastic material and are capable of being moved by the front of recrystallization during growth of the crystallites in the thermoplastic material so that the reinforcing elements are disposed in the interspherulitic zones between crystallites when the crystals have been fully grown. The reinforcing elements are selected so that they have dimensions smaller than the dimensions of the crystallites of thermoplastic material, they are present in an amount of 0.05 to 5% by weight based on the thermoplastic material and they have a shape favorable to the transfer of mechanical stresses and, in addition, the boundary of the reinforcing element particles is sufficiently defined so that the particles can be moved by the growing front of recrystallization of the spherulites.
