  • Publication number: 20050165784
Abstract: In one embodiment, information content files, such as text files, image files, XML files and the like, that provide information related to an identifier bearing item, such as a consumer item with a barcode, are stored on a data storage device such as network server. Identifier data entries, such as UPC data, are associated with file data entries, such as file names, in a database. General file access information that is used in accessing the information content files is stored on a terminal. In operation an identifier is read by the terminal and is used to extract one of the file data entries from the database based on database communication information stored on the terminal. The file data entry in combination with the general file access information is used to establish communication with the data storage device and to extract one of the information content files.

  • Publication number: 20050039092
Abstract: A portable device is equipped with a broadcasting operating mode in which the broadcasting portable device executes a verbatim memory data image copying to another device or plurality of devices equipped with receiving modes of operation. Single-threaded OS free commands may be utilized to control both the broadcasting and receiving devices during a data copy session. In another aspect, a reprogramming system includes a symbol generator and a reconfigurable device. The symbol generator processes user input data to encode a reprogramming symbol, and the reconfigurable device reads the reprogramming symbol.

  • Publication number: 20050004954
Abstract: The present invention provides for an improved method and system for determining differences in data sets or data files, expedited data transfer and data reconciliation in a communication network using hash segmentation processing. The system and method provides for an efficient means of communicating updated files, new revisions or verifying files between a source host and a target host. By implementing hash segmentation processing, and in many embodiments iterative hash segmentation processing, the updates within the files can be isolated for the purpose of minimizing the amount of data communicated from the source host to the target host. The system and methods provide for the transfer of data between two hosts in instances in which neither host is aware of the revision that exists on the other host. The hash segmentation process may implement a logarithmic hash approach or a sliding linear hash approach.
