Patent number: 4956897Abstract: A cam cleat includes at least two gripping members mounted in space apart relation. The gripping members provide a line gripping passage therebetween through which a line can extend. At least one of the gripping members includes a cam shaped gripping pawl mounted on a base member for pivotal movement relative to the upper gripping member. Movement of the gripping pawl toward the other gripping member closes the line gripping passage so that a line in the passage is gripped between the gripping members. Each gripping pawl has a pair of gripping surfaces arranged in symmetrical relation so that one of the pair of gripping surfaces engages the line during gripping. The surface allocated for gripping depends on the orientation of the gripping pawl relative to the other gripping member.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1989Date of Patent: September 18, 1990Assignee: Ronstan International Pty. Patent number: 4386720Abstract: The invention relates to a tap for connection to a tube extending from a container for liquids. It includes a barrel having a substantially continuous hollow configuration open at one end and having an outlet opening in its sidewall. The open end of the barrel is adapted for fastening the barrel to the container. There is included a seat surrounding the outlet opening and complimentary plug extending into the interior of the barrel and carried by the closed opposite end of the barrel. At least a portion of the barrel is of a flexible thin-walled diaphragm-like configuration and is adapted to be inverted by a snap action from an open position to a closed position with the plug engaging the seat when in the closed position to shut off the flow of liquid through the tap.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1982Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert Speedie

Patent number: 4342438Abstract: A unitary plastic material cable strap fastener having a flange with a plug member on one side for engaging in a hole in a panel to hold the fastener in position. The plug having a stem with a head at its end and rows of radial wings arranged along its length. A stud extends from the opposite side of the flange coaxial with the plug. A flexible strap member is attached to the flange by a bifurcated end having a pair of legs formed by an opening in the strap end. The strap extends from the flange in the same direction as the stud with the stud extending into the opening with the legs straddling the stud. The strap is provided with a series of stud receiving openings for engaging the stud when the strap is formed into a loop. The flexible legs of the strap permit the strap to be rotated or folded relative to the longitudinal axis of the plug and stud so that it extends perpendicular thereto to permit the stud receiving openings to engage the stud.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1980Date of Patent: August 3, 1982Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert Speedie

Patent number: 4320557Abstract: The invention relates to a tube clamp, such as a weasand clamp, wherein there are means for locking the clamp in its closed position. The clamp comprises a quasi-tubular member having in its side wall a slot extending from one end of the clamp to the other, so that the clamp may be fitted to a flexible tube at a position between its opposite ends. Within the tubular member is a hinged flap adapted to press upon the flexible tube, and close it, when there is pressure to move the clamp rearwardly, the hinged flap being arranged to permit the clamp to be moved forwardly. Molded integrally with the clamp is a flexible strap having at about its free end a stud or bead which is engageable in a recess or opening provided in the outer wall of the clamp so as to thereby hold the clamp from inadvertent removal from the tube once it has been fitted in position.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1980Date of Patent: March 23, 1982Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Robert Speedie
