    Abstract: Systems and methods for providing transit access using display-integrated barriers. One embodiment includes a gateline having a first display-integrated barrier configured to display a first visual message and to be moved to allow a holder of a portable electronic device to enter the transit system. The gateline may include a receiving antenna configured to receive a wireless electromagnetic signal transmitted by a portable electronic device. A transit server may transmit an inquiry signal regarding an aspect of the first visual message to the portable electronic device, receive a response signal, and analyze the response signal to determine that the response signal correctly verifies the aspect of the first visual message. The transit server may effect a transit data augmentation amount to an account associated with the portable electronic device.

    Abstract: A method of increasing transit ridership includes receiving a travel destination from a mobile device, identifying a plurality of entities positioned within a predefined radius of the travel destination, and alerting the entities that the mobile device has selected the travel destination. The method also includes receiving, in response to the alert, at least one transit ride option from at least some of the entities, providing the at least one transit ride option to the mobile device, and receiving a selection of one transit ride option of the transit ride option from the mobile device. The method further includes detecting that the mobile device is present on a transit vehicle associated with the transit ride option, determining that the mobile device is present within an entity associated with the selected transit ride option, and providing a transit product to the mobile device based on the determination.

The method may include receiving, by a gate receiver positioned within a gate within the transit location, the device signal and analyzing the received device signal to determine that a holder of the mobile communication device is entering through the gate.
