  • Patent number: 6558177
Abstract: A coaxial connector having shell assemblies including shells and contacts is provided for accepting misalignment of connectors during blind mating. The coaxial connector includes a first shell having a cavity and a second shell that resides in the cavity of the first shell. The second shell is movable relative to the first shell. The first shell assembly has a first contact that resides in the first shell, and the second shell assembly has a second contact that resides in the second shell. The second contact is in direct contact with the first contact, and the first and second contacts are movable relative to each other while maintaining direct contact. The shell assemblies are arranged along longitudinal axes that are concentric with one another and overlap in an unbiased position. When the shell assemblies are moved relative to one another, the axes no longer overlap.

  • Patent number: 6244904
Abstract: An electrical connector (16) is arranged to releasably receive a pair of conductors (22, 24) and electrically interconnecting the conductors to the terminals (30) of an acoustical speaker (14). The connector includes an insulating housing (36) and a single button (38) in sliding engagement with the housing (36). The button is slidable between a first position (42) where the conductors are held within the connector and electrically interconnected to the speaker terminals (30) and a second position (46) where the conductors (22, 24) can be inserted into the connector or removed therefrom. A pair of contact members (52, 54) are disposed in a cavity (48, 50) within the housing (36). Each contact member includes a tail (28) extending therefrom through an opening (176) in the housing and is electrically interconnected to one of the terminals via a lead (32).

  • Patent number: 6132245
Abstract: An electrical connector (16) is adapted to be secured to a mounting surface (84) of an electrical component (12). A gasket (86) is disposed between the connector and the mounting surface to provide an acoustical seal and to urge the connector outwardly against its latching members (72,76) to provide a firm and stable assembly (10). The connector (16) includes a button (38) which, when depressed, operates contacts (52,54) for receiving a conductor (22,24). Spaced apart projections (100) extend from a surface (88) of the connector into pressing engagement with portions (106) of the gasket thereby having a stabilizing affect on the connector when the button is depressed.

  • Patent number: 5720546
Abstract: An electrical connector (3) for a fluorescent lighting fixture (1) comprises a circuit board (9) having an integral lamp ballast (10), a first bank of sockets (4) and wire connecting ports (11,12). A housing (16) encloses the ballast and the circuit board. The first bank of sockets are exposed from the housing for connection to fluorescent lamps, and the wire connecting ports are exposed from the housing for connection between external wiring from a source of electrical power and wiring extending to a second bank of sockets for the fluorescent lamps.

  • Patent number: 5681174
Abstract: A cover (10) adapted to be releasably secured to an electrical connector assembly (30) for positioning the assembly (30) to a surface of an electrical article (70) by use of a vacuum-suction nozzle (66). The connector assembly (30) includes a housing (32) having a transverse body section 33) and a plurality of electrical terminals (50) disposed therein and extending above the body section (33). The cover (10), which overlies at least a central region of the housing, has a plate (12) having planar top surface (14) and at least one projection (18) extending substantially perpendicularly from a lower surface (16) of the cover (10) intermediate the side edges thereof. The projection (18) is dimensioned to be received in a central location of the connector assembly (30) and to be releasably gripped by cooperating surfaces therein.
