Abstract: A color-sensitive currency verifier operating with a plurality of narrowband light sources optically coupled to a single broadband photodetector and including means for automatically balancing the color outputs of the various light sources. Color balancing is accomplished just prior to the examination of a specimen bill. The data samples are taken under the control of a microprocessor and used to authenticate the specimen bill both on the basis of pattern and color information stored in memory. Multiple data samples from a single target area are divided to compensate for soiling condition of the bill, and further compensation for condition of the bill is provided by adjusting the conversion scale factor of an A/D converter on the basis of data samples taken from a reference target area on the surface of the specimen bill before test or data samples are taken.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing tickets including a container having a vertically extending opening loosely receiving a stack of tickets. The container has adjacent its top a ticket passage slot which leads from the opening in the container to the outside of the container. An elevator is mounted for vertical movement in the container and is adapted to support the stack of tickets. A control device operates the elevator to position the uppermost ticket slightly below the top. The container has air jet orifices therein, a first set of which is located in the container sidewall on the opposite side of the container from the slot, a second located in the container top on the opposite side of the container from the slot and a third located in the container top above the slot. A pneumatic device provides a blast of air under pressure through each of the orifices to move a ticket from the top of the stack of tickets out of the container through the slot.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing rectangular tickets including a container having a vertically extending opening therein with a rectangular horizontal cross section adapted to loosely receive a stack of tickets. The container has a top and a ticket passage slot adjacent the top. The slot leads from the opening in the container to the outside of the container. An elevator is mounted for vertical movement in the container and is adapted to support the stack of tickets. A control device operates the elevator to position the uppermost ticket thereon slightly below the top. The container has air jet orifices therein, a first of which is located in the container sidewall on the opposite side of the container from the slot. A second of the orifices is located in the container top on the opposite side of the container from the slot and a third of the orifices is located in the container top above the slot.

Abstract: An apparatus for feeding coins by vibration. An electromagnet is mounted upon a frame being operable to cyclically attract and repel an armature fixedly mounted to and beneath a horizontally extending platform supported above the frame by a plurality of springs. A coin cup is mounted atop the platform and receives coins from a hopper suspendedly mounted above the cup by a plurality of members mounted to the frame. In the alternate embodiment, the hopper includes a top portion supported by the members and a bottom portion connected to the top portion by a vibration isolator. The bottom portion extends freely into the cup which includes a coin outlet opening onto the platform. The coins exit the platform through a second outlet falling into a coin tube leading to a coin dispenser.
