  • Patent number: 4844534
Abstract: An open roof construction for a vehicle with a roof opening, provided with an outer panel and an inner panel. The outer panel is pivotable from its closed position in the roof opening to a backwardly and upwardly inclined ventilating position and from this ventilating position may be moved back to the closed position. Simultaneously with the outward pivoting movement of the outer panel an adjusting means moves the inner panel backwards from its foremost position along a restricted distance.

  • Patent number: 4757643
Abstract: An elastic seal for a displaceable panel of an open roof construction for a vehicle comprises a mounting section and a hollow sealing section made of rubber. The mounting section is adapted to be disposed along the periphery of the panel. The sealing section is arranged outwardly of said mounting section. The mounting section is provided with outwardly extending flanges, which engage the upper or lower side respectively of the sealing section. In the bended condition of the seal these flanges have been displaced inwardly towards each other with respect to the non-bended condition thereby pinching the sealing section together in a direction perpendicular to the plane of bending.Herein a substantially constant distance between the outer border of the sealing section and the mounting section is maintained under all circumstances.

  • Patent number: 4738483
Abstract: The invention relates to an air guiding mechanism for an open roof construction with a sliding panel, for a vehicle. The mechanism comprises an air guiding strip which can be fitted at the front edge of the roof opening. The air guiding strip is displaced upwardly into an operative position by a spring when the panel is being opened and is brought to a rest position against the pressure of the spring means under the action of this panel when the panel is being closed. A stop determining the operative position of the air guiding strip is provided on a blocking member which is connected to the air guiding strip. Preferably the stop is adjustable, so that the operative position of the air guiding strip can very easily be adjusted to different vehicle roofs.

  • Patent number: 4678228
Abstract: The invention relates to a sliding roof for a vehicle, comprising a panel, which in its forward position closes an opening in the fixed roof and which, upon operation of an actuating member, raises its rear edge and is partly displaceable outside the roof opening into positions above the fixed roof, the panel being pivotable about a horizontal transverse shaft and being supported near its front edge by at least one front support, which is movable backwardly and forwardly in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. A lever is pivotally mounted at its lower end with respect to the vehicle and has at least three guide elements formed on its upper end including a pin that is slidably mounted in a first longitudinally extending slot formed underneath the panel, and a protrusion that extends from an opposite side of the lever from the pin which is mounted in a second slot also formed underneath to the panel.

  • Patent number: 4673210
Abstract: A closing panel for a roof opening in a vehicle is operated by a slide member moving relative to a stationary track and when the panel is in a forwardly position, a movable support bracket is permitted to move to guide the front of the panel to move between a closed position and a lowered position. When the panel is to be tilted to a ventilation position, the movable bracket is permitted to move forwardly to raise the front edge of the panel slightly to compensate for location of the pivoting point relative to the front edge of the panel. When the panel is moved rearwardly while in its lowered position, a pin on the movable bracket operates in crossing slots between a stationary track and a slidable displacing element to lock the panel against tilting movement. When the panel is in its most forwardly position, the crossing slots permit the tilting movement.

  • Patent number: 4650244
Abstract: A sliding roof for a vehicle with a roof opening, comprising a transparent outer panel and an inner panel with a grip. The outer panel may be moved downwardly from its closed position in the roof opening and may be slid backwardly between the fixed roof and the inner roof lining of the vehicle to a wholly or partly opened position and back. Upon opening of the outer panel a carrier means on the outer panel slides the inner panel backwardly and in the wholly opened position of the outer panel the inner panel substantially entirely lies between the inner roof lining and the fixed roof and a hand grip of the inner panel is inaccessible. Upon the forward movement of the outer panel from its substantially rearward wholly opened position, a locking mechanism locks the inner panel in a position in which the handgrip remains inaccessible.

  • Patent number: 4643478
Abstract: An open roof construction for a vehicle which has a roof opening comprises a panel that is movable downwardly from a closed position in the roof opening to an open position at least partially under the fixed roof and which panel also can be tilted from its closed position so that it inclines upwardly and rearwardly for ventilation. The panel is moved by moving a slide plate that is guided in a stationary, substantially horizontal guide. The slide plate and panel are connected by a link that has three legs, with a first leg being pivotally connected to the panel and to a further slide piece also guided in the stationary guide and with the second leg being connected to the first leg intermediate the ends of the first leg.

  • Patent number: 4615236
Abstract: The invention relates to a crank device comprising a crank and adapted to rotate an at least approximately vertical driving shaft, which may actuate a displaceable panel of an open roof construction for a vehicle. According to the invention a coupling member is mounted between the crank and the driving shaft and after uncoupling, the crank is rotatable about the central axis of the driving shaft without rotation of this driving shaft.

  • Patent number: 4614009
Abstract: A locking member for an open roof construction for a vehicle. This open roof construction is provided with a panel, which in the closed position closes an opening in the roof of the vehicle and which is movable from this closed position or to this closed position by means of at least one push-pull cable. This push-pull cable is displaceable by means of a driving wheel, which is rotatable in two opposite directions, while a locking member at least substantially prevents a rotation of the driving wheel by the push-pull cable. This locking member comprises two cooperating locking parts, the first one of these locking parts being stationary and the second locking part, when at rest, being maintained in the locked position, while this second locking part can first be brought from its locked position into its released position with respect to the stationary locking part by means of an actuating member and can thereafter be rotated in the two opposite directions, which rotation is followed by the driving wheel.

  • Patent number: 4602815
Abstract: A sliding roof for a vehicle, having a fixed roof provided with an opening defined by a support frame, which movably supports a panel which in its front position closes the opening in the fixed roof. Upon actuation of a displacement member this movable panel, while lifting its rear side, may be moved partly outside the roof opening into positions above the fixed roof. On either side the movable panel is connected to the support frame exclusively by means of a plurality of pin-guide slot assemblies each consisting of a guide slot and a pin which may slide therein.

  • Patent number: 4601512
Abstract: The invention relates to an open roof-construction for a vehicle having a roof opening, comprising a panel, which is movable from the closed position in the roof opening to a rearwardly and downwardly inclined position, from which the panel is displaceable to a completely or partially opened position under the fixed roof, whereafter the panel may be returned again to the closed position, while furthermore the panel can be moved from the closed position to a rearwardly and upwardly inclined ventilation position and from this ventilation position can be moved back again to the closed position, while for displacing the panel a pull-push means on at least one side engages a slide plate which is guided in a stationary, substantially horizontal rail, the panel being displaceably supported near its front side, while the panel and the slide plate are connected with each other at a distance from the front side of the panel by a relatively pivotally moveable two leg link connection means having a guide pin on one leg,

  • Patent number: 4407541
Abstract: A sliding roof for a vehicle is provided including a panel. In the forward position, the panel closes an opening in a fixed roof. Upon operation of an actuating member, the rear edge of the panel is raised and is partly displaceable outside the roof opening into positions above the fixed roof. The panel is supported near its front edge by a horizontal cross-shaft of at least one front support. The front support is movable backward and forward in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. At least one cross-pin at the upper end of a lever engages the panel backwards from the front support. The lever is pivotally supported at its lower end for pivotal movement about a horizontal transverse axis. The actuating member engages the front support and moves the same in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in order to displace the panel while the cross pin at the upper end of the lever is rotatably and slidably engaged with a slot formed underneath the panel.
