In some embodiments, the composition further includes 0.5 to 5 weight percent of an additive, such as a compatibilizer, a coupling agent, an anti-oxidant, and/or a lubricant.     Abstract: A composite material includes a thermoplastic polymer matrix throughout which cellulose pulp fibers and filler material are dispersed. The composite may be in solid (e.g. pellet) form, or molten form. The presence of cellulose pulp fibers unexpectedly reduces cycle time, and/or unexpectedly improves certain properties, when the composite is used in injection molding. A method for molding a part includes providing a solid composite that includes thermoplastic polymer, filler material, and cellulose pulp fibers to an injection molding system; melting the polymer to produce a molten mixture; and injecting the molten mixture into a mold. Another method for molding a part includes injecting a molten mixture of thermoplastic polymer, filler material, and cellulose pulp fibers into a mold; and removing the formed part from the mold after a cycle time at least 10% less than that required when using a comparable molten mixture that excludes the pulp fibers.

    Abstract: A method of making bleached mechanical pulps is disclosed for pulping mills having a primary and a secondary refiner. A first step is to provide cellulosic materials, such as wood chips to refine into the pulp; the wood chips have an initial brightness level. A second step is to provide a bleaching liquor to the refining system of the pulp mill, wherein the liquor comprises an amount of hydrogen peroxide and an amount of alkali having greater than 0% to 100% magnesium hydroxide or soda ash or a combination thereof. A third step is to hold the pulp with the bleaching liquor at a temperature in the range of about 85° to about 160° C. and for about 2 to about 180 minutes. The components of the bleach liquor can be added at the first refiner or interstage between refiners.
