  • Patent number: 7798749
Abstract: An improved pneumatic particulate conveyance system including a particulate diffuser plate is disclosed. The assembly includes a pipeline with one or more particulate inlets for introducing solid particulates to a prime mover, wherein the pipeline has at least one particulate diffuser plate located within the pipeline. The particulate diffuser plate has a length which runs parallel to the prime mover and occludes at least a portion of a particulate inlet so as to increase the surface area exposed to the conveying air, thus resulting in a more efficient momentum transfer to the particulate. The plate used in the assembly further includes an arcuate trailing edge so as to encourage more particulate falling into the middle (i.e., the higher velocity portion of the profile) of the prime mover.

  • Publication number: 20030236537
Abstract: A surgical instrument (10) is adapted to contact tissue of a patient, and to provide traction with the tissue in order to inhibit migration of the instrument relative to the tissue. The instrument may include a pair of opposing jaws (16, 18) with at least one of the jaws (16, 18) comprising a substrate having a particular surface facing the tissue, and a plurality of discrete elements (26, 28) disposed on the particular surface for increasing the traction of the instrument relative to the tissue. These discrete elements (26, 28) may include a multiplicity of granules, bristles, or projections, and may be formed of materials having various properties such as hydrophilic characteristics. The discrete elements in the form of bristles can be oriented too so that the column strength of each bristle provides increased traction in a predetermined direction.

  • Patent number: 6654582
Abstract: A magnetic roll assembly including an roll core made of a first material and having a longitudinal axis; plural locating members formed of the first material on the outside surface for locating strip magnets; and plural strip magnets located on the plural locating members on the outside surface, the plural strip magnets each having at least first and second surfaces, and a mating feature on one of the at least first and second surfaces mirroring one of the plural locating members for locating and attaching each the plural strip magnets to the roll core, thereby resulting in a magnetic roll assembly that is easily and correctly assembled, and that facilitates rework and remanufacturing.

  • Patent number: 5357414
Abstract: A cantilevered electrical light fixture (10) has a power supply line (30) running through it from a mounted end (17) to an internal connection zone (36) at a cantilevered end (18). A cover (52) closes the internal connection zone (36) and mounts a plug-half (40) and a switch (42), which are electrically connected to the power supply line (30). A light head (16) mounted to the cantilevered end (18) by a post (76) with a non-circular portion (78) and a threaded shank (80) has lamp wiring (110) connected to a plug-half (120) which releasably mates with the plug-half (40) mounted to the arm (12). A U-shaped bracket (116) mounts a socket (114) to a shell (84) of the light head (16) to bias the lamp bulb (154) against the shell (84).

  • Patent number: 4392676
Abstract: A hose handling device has a fitting adapted to be secured to one end of a hose. The fitting has a peripheral groove in its exterior surface in which a ring is mounted for relative rotational movement with respect to the fitting. An eye adapted to be engaged by a hook is fixedly secured to said ring. Advantageously, the eye is formed by opposed legs which conform to the outer diameter of the ring and are secured thereto by welding or the like. Preferably, the inner diameter of the ring has a relatively flat central portion each side of which is connected to a slightly beveled portion which, in turn, may be connected to a more sharply beveled portion connected to an exterior face of the ring. To facilitate swivelling the inner diameter of the ring may have a peripheral groove communicating with a grease fitting mounted on the exterior of the ring. The fitting may be connected to one end of a hose and have its other end threaded for connection to a threaded fitting.

  • Patent number: 3971535
Abstract: An aircraft including a single fuselage having a main wing and a horizontal stabilizer airfoil pivotally attached at their centers to the fuselage. The pivotal attachments allow the airfoils to be yawed relative to the fuselage for high speed flight, and to be positioned at right angles with respect to the fuselage during take-off, landing, and low speed flight. The main wing and the horizontal stabilizer are upwardly curved from their center pivotal connections towards their ends to form curvilinear dihedrals.
