  • Patent number: 5467919
Abstract: Disclosed is an air conditioning system which provides for controlling the flow of conditioned air from a duct to a predetermined location of an occupied area of a building. A fitting is secured at one end thereof to the duct and has a moveable butterfly valve mounted therein for selectively controlling flow of conditioned air therethrough, the fitting including a motor and motor control relay for controlling operation of the valve. An outlet is mounted in association with wall means adjacent the location and spaced from the fitting. A flexible conduit is connected to another end of the fitting means and extends from the fitting means to and is connected with the outlet means.

  • Patent number: 4590992
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for conditioning a load using circulation of temperature controlled water where there is provided thermal storage means for holding varying volumes of water at different temperatures and the storage means comprises at least one tank having a constant cross-section between opposed vertical ends. A disc between the ends of the tank separates the tank into first and second variable volume chambers and prevents blending of water at different temperatures in the chambers. Conduits selectively feed water into one chamber while simutaneously removing water from the other chamber, the disc means moving in the tank in accordance with the feeding and withdrawal of water from the chambers whereby the volume of water in each chamber may vary but the total volume of water in the tank means is substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 4135571
Abstract: Disclosed are suitably structured storage tanks which substantially eliminate blending problems in thermal storage systems. More particularly is disclosed floatable baffle and flexible diaphragm means for preventing blending of different temperatures of water in a storage tank. Also disclosed is a thermal storage system wherein the tanks are at the base of a building and which includes the use of energy conserving turbines to further enhance the benefits of thermal storage. Direct pumping entry of the storage water at a low pressure is permitted into the load circuit which is at a substantially higher pressure and the turbine conserves energy required in the pumping.
