Patent number: 8415598Abstract: A stabilizing fin deployment apparatus may include a base assembly for attachment to the rear end of a projectile. The base assembly may include a base, a spacer, a fin mount, a gas cavity and an opening that extends from the rear end of the base to the gas cavity. A retention nut may engage the base and secure the fin mount and spacer to the base. A retention plug may be disposed in the opening in the base assembly. The retention plug may include at least one gas conduit between an outer surface of the retention plug and the gas cavity. A retention bolt may extend through the retention plug and may be fixed to the base. A plurality of fins hubs may be rotatably fixed to the base. A plurality of fins may be translatably connected to the fin hubs. When deployed, the fin hubs may rotate forward and the fins may translate outward far into the airstream.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: The United States of America as Represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventors: Robert Terhune, Michael Hollis

Publication number: 20060222963Abstract: The invention includes methods of forming a pattern in a substrate. A feature location is defined where a square corner is desired to be patterned into the substrate. A mask is generated which is to be utilized in creating a substantially square corner at the feature location. The mask has a linear sub-resolution component extending across the feature location. Radiation is provided through the mask to pattern the substantially square corner at the feature location.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2005Publication date: October 5, 2006Inventor: Robert Terhune

Publication number: 20050172010Abstract: A distributed information network is constructed for gathering information from sites distributed across a globally accessible computer network, i.e., the Internet. The distributed information network preferably includes a root server that stores a list of multiple distributed sites each represented by metadata. A network browser delivers an information search request to the root server, which in response develops a profiled information search request. The information provider of each of the distributed sites stores metadata corresponding to information content that is retrievable in response to the profiled information search request for search results derivable from the information content to which the metadata correspond. A profiled information communication link between the root server and each of the multiple distribution sites enables formation of a path for delivery of the search results to a destination site, from a site or sites represented by the metadata of the profiled information search request.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 17, 2004Publication date: August 4, 2005Inventors: Michael Malone, Jon Loucks, Robert Terhune, Cameron Cotrill
