  • Publication number: 20050240312
Abstract: An integrated HVACR control and protection system includes a modular and reprogrammable design providing a plurality of possible combinations of power detection, voltage detection, run current detection, transient current detection, temperature detection, universal thermostat interface, peripheral or remote control, and local display and control. The control and protection system is capable of evaluating the relationship between real power used by an HVACR system compressor and other system operating parameters to detect problems early in the failure cycle, i.e., before a failure has progressed to requiring a system shutdown or causing damage to other components. Additionally, a control system and method provide sensorless detection of various HVACR system faults, such as, for example, loss of refrigerant or a refrigerant flow restriction, that impact the relationship between real power and current, voltage, temperature, or other operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20050174251
Abstract: A fire and smoke alarm device having a device body is removably supported on a wall by a fire resistant support loop and has a battery powered electronic circuit including a sensor for detection of a predetermined level of combustion emissions and emitting a shrill pulsating audible alarm. The device repetitively emits a pre-recorded voice alert in alternating relation with the pulsating audible alarm to alert persons who might not be easily alerted by horn or siren signals. The device incorporates a laser and/or LED light that is energized by the electronic circuitry and project a light beam from an adjustable arm or appendage of the device body. A light diffusing member is located remotely from the device body and is positionable to diffuse the light beam and to guide emergency personnel to the area being monitored.

  • Publication number: 20050029976
Abstract: A motor control system for a brushless and sensorless DC motor for driving a compressor, pump or other application, includes a protection and fault detection circuit for detecting a locked rotor and a rotor which has stopped because of lost rotor phase lock. The motor control system also includes an off-the-shelf motor control integrated circuit having an input for disabling power outputs to the motor phase coils. The protection and fault detection circuit uses a back EMF sampling circuit coupled to the motor phase coils and momentarily disables power to the motor phase coils, via the motor control integrated circuit input, to determine if the motor rotor is rotating. The system also monitors supply voltage, supply current, temperature, and motor speed limits to detect faults and protect system components.

  • Patent number: 6106676
Abstract: The present invention is a cascade control system for reactive sputtering deposition. A first control loop modifies the power supply in order to keep a monitored value nearly constant. This first control loop can be done relatively quickly. A second control loop monitors a second measure parameter in order to control the reactive gas flow to the system. In a preferred embodiment, the slower control loop is used to maintain a relatively constant power at the power supply.

  • Patent number: 5315724
Abstract: A combination fire axe includes an elongated handle, a head member disposed at one end of the handle, and a pike member disposed at the opposite end of the handle. The head member includes a base portion secured to the handle and a cutting portion having a convex edge disposed on one side of the base portion. An enlarged end portion having a blunt face is disposed on the opposite side of the base portion. An elongated substantially flat top portion and a grip members are defined in the head member for operating and controlling the pike member. The pike member includes a base portion secured to the handle, a wedge-shaped pike end portion, and a hook member extending transversely outwardly from the pike member.

  • Patent number: 4480749
Abstract: A tamper-evident container and a method for making the same. The container includes at least one open end with integral flaps adjacent the open end. A thermoplastic material is applied to one flap with the other flap folded over onto the one flap. The flaps are thus sealed together with a thermoplastic material. A temperature-sensitive indicator is applied to the closed end so that the indicator visually indicates whether an excessive amount of heat has been applied to the seal of thermoplastic material.
