  • Patent number: 7633621
Abstract: A hybrid laser comprising a semiconductor pump laser and small-cavity rare earth fiber laser where laser cavities of both lasers are butt coupled or otherwise optically coupled to form a plurality of laser cavities that produce a plurality of emission wavelengths, one which may be the pump laser emission wavelength at the output of the fiber laser thereby forming a multi-wavelength combined output. The wavelengths in such an output may substantially match distinguishing spectral characteristic features along at least a portion of a characteristic optical spectrum of the analyte under examination providing a method of determining the concentration of an analyte in a specimen undergoing examination.

  • Patent number: 7634239
Abstract: The subject of this patent is a system to generate RF frequency hopped signals that can be used to test radio receivers over the range of their signal specifications. The hop sequence and symbols in the signal is decoded from signals transmitted by the same or different radio of the same specification. The system can set various signal parameters to any prescribed value. These parameters include carrier frequency error, bit rate error, rise and fall times, amplitude ripple and roll off, modulation depth, nonlinearities, burst duration, burst start time and burst interval. Signal interference can be added to the signal including tones, other signals, noise and other signals of the same as the test radio. Similarly other communications equipment can be tested by the combination of receiving and demodulating a transmitted and regenerating the signal with the same symbols with specified signal parameters.

  • Patent number: 7633483
Abstract: Extending graphical information to a remote computing system such that a multiple monitor configuration can be implemented for the first computing device is illustrated. The multiple monitors include a display connected to the first computing device and one or more displays connected to other computing devices. A remote session is established between the first computing device and the second computing device. Graphics commands are generated for first and second display drivers at the first computing device as if a multi-display configuration is active at the first computing device. The first display driver is associated with a display at the first computing device. The second display driver doesn't have an associated display at the first computing device. Graphics are displayed from the graphics commands for the first display driver at the display at the first computing device. Graphics commands for the second display driver are remoted to the second computing device.

  • Patent number: 7634058
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems of scanning a target for potential threats using the energy spectra of photons scattered from the target to determine the spatial distributions of average atomic number and/or mass in the target. An exemplary method comprises: illuminating each of a plurality of voxels of the target with a photon beam; determining an incident flux upon each voxel; measuring the energy spectrum of photons scattered from the voxel; determining, using the energy spectrum, the average atomic number in the voxel; and determining the mass in the voxel using the incident flux, the average atomic number of the material in the voxel, the energy spectrum, and a scattering kernel corresponding to the voxel. An exemplary system may use threat detection heuristics to determine whether to trigger further action based upon the average atomic number and/or mass of the voxels.

  • Patent number: 7632641
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of nucleic acid probes to identify analytes in a sample. In the preferred embodiments, metastable nucleic acid monomers are provided that associate in the presence of an initiator nucleic acid. Upon exposure to the initiator, the monomers self-assemble in a hybridization chain reaction. The initiator nucleic acid may be, for example, a portion of an analyte to be detected or may be part of an initiation trigger such that it is made available in the presence of a target analyte.

  • Patent number: 7633881
Abstract: The buffering of RSCN frames is disclosed so that RSCN traffic can be reduced. At the start of a state change notification period, a timer is started. A state change manager buffers state changes in a register that holds a pending RSCN frame by storing the address of each changed device. When a new state change is received, the address of the corresponding device is compared against each of the addresses currently stored in the buffered RSCN frame. If a duplicate address is found, the searching process ends. If no duplicate address is found, then the new address is added to the next available 32-bit field in the buffered RSCN frame. When a specified number of state changes have been received, or a specified amount of time has elapsed, the RSCN frame is sent to each initiator that had previously registered to receive state changes.

  • Patent number: 7634810
Abstract: Phishing detection, prevention, and notification is described. In an embodiment, a messaging application facilitates communication via a messaging user interface, and receives a communication, such as an email message, from a domain. A phishing detection module detects a phishing attack in the communication by determining that the domain is similar to a known phishing domain, or by detecting suspicious network properties of the domain. In another embodiment, a Web browsing application receives content, such as data for a Web page, from a network-based resource, such as a Web site or domain. The Web browsing application initiates a display of the content, and a phishing detection module detects a phishing attack in the content by determining that a domain of the network-based resource is similar to a known phishing domain, or that an address of the network-based resource from which the content is received has suspicious network properties.
