  • Publication number: 20050217663
Abstract: A fuel-fired heating appliance has multiple premix type fuel burners horizontally disposed in a row in its combustion chamber and operable in a staged manner. The burners are upwardly spaced apart from a rigid fiberboard insulation panel structure extending along the bottom interior side of the combustion chamber. Sandwiched between and contacting the bottom sides of the burners and the top side of the fiberboard panel is a blanket of resilient ceramic fiber insulation material which functions to (1) prevent uncombusted fuel from firing burners from being circulated under non-firing burners, (2) increase the operating temperatures of bottom sides of the burners during firing thereof to lessen thermal stresses in the firing burners, (3) resiliently permit differential thermal expansion of the burners, and (4) reduce harmonic resonance of the burners, and associated operational noise of the appliance, during firing of the burners.

  • Publication number: 20050222503
Abstract: An apparatus to detect the onset of sleep apnea, and to provide an automated way to awaken the sleeping patient at the onset of sleep apnea. The apparatus may also contain a recording device or computer that captures blood oxygen levels and pulse rates throughout the period of sleep, and may contain computer programs, algorithms, subroutines or logic to determine the level of blood oxygen and pulse rate that indicates the onset of a sleep apnea event. The method of arousing the patient from sleep at the onset of a sleep apnea event will decrease or eliminate the occurrence of sleep apnea, arrhythmia, and partial epilepsy over time.

  • Publication number: 20050222988
Abstract: A method of searching for work elements for processing in a computing system having a primary queue of work elements and at least one secondary queue of work elements. A numerical priority value is associated with each of the work elements. The method includes setting an initial priority bar and processing work elements from the primary queue until reaching a work element having a priority less than the initial priority bar. A priority bar is set equal to a minimum of a priority limit and a priority on the at least one secondary queue. If the primary queue contains a work element having a priority greater than or equal to the priority bar, then the work element is processed. If the primary queue contains a work element having a priority less than the priority bar, then a work element from the at least one secondary queue is processed.

  • Publication number: 20050220558
Abstract: A support structure for supporting and tilting an oversized cargo to reduce the effective width of the cargo. The structure comprises a bolster frame having a base and a stanchion connected to the base. The stanchion extends upwardly from a lower end connected to the base to an upper end opposite the lower end. A cylindrical roller supported is by the upper end of the stanchion for rotational movement relative to the stanchion about a rotational axis. The cylindrical roller is also supported by the stanchion for pivotal movement relative to the stanchion such that the rotational axis pivots relative to the stanchion. The bolster frame also includes a bearing pad connected to the base. The cylindrical roller and the bearing pad at least partially support the oversized cargo. The support structure may be mounted on a trailer for transporting oversized cargo, such as concrete double-tees.

  • Publication number: 20050223049
Abstract: An efficient, multichannel filter for CDMA modems permits multiple serial, digital bit streams to be filtered by digital signal processing techniques including sample weighting and summing functions. Each individual channel may have custom weighting coefficients or weighting coefficients common for all channels. If the weighting coefficients are by adaption, the same approach may be taken. The multichannel FIR filter is implemented with no multipliers and a reduction in the number of adders. To increase the speed of operation, the filter structure utilizes look-up tables storing the weighting coefficients. The invention can be embodied as either as a field programmable gate array or an application specific integrated circuit. The use of look-up tables saves significant chip resources.

  • Publication number: 20050222703
Abstract: Interfaces are provided which integrate mistake-proofing concepts in a way easily understandable by the operator and easily configured by a manufacturing engineer. As mistake-proofing concepts are developed tables are populated and associated with specific assembly processes. Sensors are employed to monitor parts selection and tool usage. Sensors used for tool use and parts selection, error messages and actions to be performed or monitored are all defined and related in the tables and in turn to specific assembly orders. The tables are also populated with logic pointers, which are referenced by a Process Logic Control (PLC) unit that has been programmed to recall and carry out infinitely variable monitoring or control of the assembly process. For example when a particular order has been identified to the PLC by way of a scanned barcode or other means, a bill of material and assembly sequence is provided to the operator by appropriate means such as a CRT monitor.

  • Publication number: 20050220324
Abstract: An image quality assurance method for identifying image defects in a plurality of imaged documents, where each imaged document includes at least one image rendition. The image renditions are analyzed to provide selected image metrics, the latter of which are compared against preselected image quality metric threshold values. An image quality flag is generated for any image rendition if at least one of the selected image metrics for that image rendition does not successfully compare against the preselected image quality metric threshold values. A record entry is created in an image quality flag file for those documents having at least one flagged image rendition, the record entry including information about the selected image metrics of the at least one flagged image rendition for that imaged document. Image defects in a plurality of imaged documents can be identified by examining the record entries in the image quality flag file.
