  • Patent number: 6831892
Abstract: An apparatus comprising an input capable of receiving a bandwidth optimized transport stream is provided. The bandwidth optimized transport stream can be produced by receiving a transport stream of variably compressed program data bearing transport packets and one or more null transport packets. One or more of the null transport packets is selectively replaced with another to-be-remultiplexed non-null data bearing transport packet. Independently of determining an amount of information carried by a program data bearing transport packets from time to time in the received transport stream, at least one selected program bearing transport packet is scheduled for output in an output remultiplexed bitstream.

  • Patent number: 6831663
Abstract: The system and method of the present invention automatically assigns “scores” to the predictor/variable value pairs of a conventional probabilistic model to measure the relative impact or influence of particular elements of a set of topics, items, products, etc. in making specific predictions using the probabilistic model. In particular, these scores measure the relative impact, either positive or negative, that the value of each individual predictor variable has on the posterior distribution of the target topic, item, product, etc., for which a probability is being determined. These scores are useful for understanding why each prediction is make, and how much impact each predictor has on the prediction. Consequently, such scores are useful for explaining why a particular prediction or recommendation was made.

  • Patent number: 6832345
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for implementing coexistence and cooperation between system firmware and debug code. A service processor is coupled to a machine under test for sending system firmware test functions to the machine under test and receiving test data from the machine under test. A host computer is coupled to the service processor for sending bring-up tool debug test functions to the machine under test and receiving test data from the machine under test. The system firmware starts without user intervention on initial power-on routine of the machine under test. When the host computer receives a user request, the host computer notifies the service processor. The bring-up tool debug test functions are started responsive to the user request. The system firmware can be used for certain operations to a certain point in an operational test sequence of the machine under test and then the debug tool debug test functions are used for other functions that are not implemented in the system firmware.

  • Patent number: 6830142
Abstract: A transfer case for a vehicle having two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive operating modes operatively established by a drive transfer mechanism that is selectively employed to interconnect a main power drive shaft construction for the drive of a first set of wheels with an auxiliary drive shaft for the drive of a second set of wheels. The drive transfer mechanism includes a clutch assembly package comprising a control rod supported for movement in a direction coaxial to the longitudinal axis of the auxiliary drive shaft. The clutch assembly includes a clutch collar supported within the auxiliary drive shaft on the control rod for movement therewith to alternately connect and disconnect the power shaft with the auxiliary drive shaft. For multi-ratio case operation, the power shaft construction may have an input and output power shaft sections that are selectively interconnected by a planetary gear set and a speed shift collar.

  • Patent number: 6832194
Abstract: The present invention includes a novel audio recognition peripheral system and method. The audio recognition peripheral system comprises an audio recognition peripheral a programmable processor such as a microprocessor or microcontroller. In one embodiment, the audio recognition peripheral includes a feature extractor and vector processor. The feature extractor receives an audio signal and extracts recognition features. The extracted audio recognition features are transmitted to the programmable processor and processed in accordance with an audio recognition algorithm. During execution of the audio recognition algorithm, the programmable processor signals the audio recognition peripheral to perform vector operations. Thus, computationally intensive recognition operations are advantageously offloaded to the peripheral.

  • Publication number: 20040249623
Abstract: A system and method for compressing trace data from an emulation system. Scan chains may receive trace data from configurable logic blocks inside one or more emulation chips, and the data received from the scan chains may be compressed. Where delta compression is used, the scan chains may also perform a delta detection function. Alternatively, delta detection may be performed using the outputs of the scan chains. In addition, event detectors may be implemented within or outside of the scan chains. Compression of the trace data may include receiving a plurality of data sets and performing compression along cross-sections of the combined data sets.

  • Publication number: 20040249348
Abstract: A dose dial and drive mechanism for use in a drug delivery device having a housing, a dose dial sleeve, a piston rod, a drive sleeve threadedly connected to the piston rod, a reset sleeve, which is located between the drive sleeve and the housing, and a dose display. When the dose dial sleeve travels towards the second end of the housing the reset sleeve is carried with the dose dial sleeve towards the second end of the housing resetting the dose display to a zero position and when the dose dial sleeve and/or the reset sleeve travels towards the first end of the housing, the dose dial sleeve and/or reset sleeve engage(s) with the drive sleeve thus advancing both the drive sleeve and the piston rod towards the first end of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20040245176
Abstract: A process is disclosed that relates to the recovery of a metal catalyst from an oxidizer purge stream produced in the synthesis of carboxylic acid, typically terephthalic. More particularly, the process involves recovery of a metal catalyst from an oxidizer purge stream through the use of a pressure filter, the combining of water with a mother liquor to recover the metal catalyst and then subjecting an aqueous mixture so formed to a single stage extraction with an extraction solvent to produce an extract stream comprising organic impurities and a raffinate stream comprising the metal catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20040250239
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for concurrently maintaining serialized objects that were created from more than one version of a class definition. According to preferred embodiments, a component maps and enforces multiple valid stream-unique version identifiers (“SUIDs”) for a collection of class definitions (such as the classes of a software product that is undergoing change from one version to another). This component programmatically detects when an object's SUID value does not match the code attempting to deserialize the object, and then programmatically determines whether the object is compatible with the code even though the SUID values do not match. Preferably, this determination is made by consulting a stored mapping, in which the SUIDs of compatible versions have been recorded.
