  • Publication number: 20040172617
Abstract: Described is a system, method, and data structure that enables an executable assembly associated with a subclass to be generated from a subclass definition within a markup document. In accordance with the invention, the subclass definition is written based on a schema. The schema may be XML-based. The schema includes a subclass tag for defining a name for the subclass. The name is associated with a type for an object that is instantiated when the executable assembly executes. The schema further includes one or more hints, such as for specifying a programming language to compile the subclass definition, for specifying a superclass from which the subclass derives, for specifying actions to perform when the object becomes instantiated, for creating an event definition and event handler for the subclass, and for specifying a property that becomes a member within the object when the object is instantiated.

  • Publication number: 20040170704
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a process for the manufacture of a herbal composition, said process comprising: a. subjecting a matrine containing plant material, in the absence of a plant material derived from the species Dictamnus, to an extraction with an aqueous solvent, optionally followed by a concentration step, to produce a herbal extract I; b. subjecting a plant material derived from the species Dictamnus, to an extraction with an aqueous solvent, optionally followed by a concentration step, to produce a herbal extract II; c. mixing the herbal extracts I and II; d. provided the resulting mixture contains a significant amount of water, drying the mixture to a water content of less than 6 wt. %. The herbal composition according to the present invention may advantageously be used in a method of treating or preventing cancer, H. pylori infections, chronic inflammatory conditions, cardiovascular diseases or cerebral vascular diseases in mammals.

  • Publication number: 20040170432
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for processing multiple commands to a streaming target device through a SCSI router in a Fibre Channel network provisioned with one or more Fiber Channel hosts. The system and method are implemented in the SCSI router and include creating a FIFO queue, receiving a first command from one of the Fibre Channel hosts in the Fibre Channel network, and forwarding the first command to the streaming target device. When a subsequent command is issued to the streaming target device, the SCSI router can receive the subsequent command and determine whether the streaming target device has completed execution of the previous command. If the streaming target device has completed execution of the previous command, the subsequent command can be forwarded to the streaming target device. If the streaming target device has not completed executing the previous command, the subsequent command can instead be placed in the FIFO queue.

  • Publication number: 20040169650
Abstract: Digital Image compositing using a programmable graphics processor is described. The programmable graphics processor supports high-precision data formats and can be programmed to complete a plurality of compositing operations in a single pass through a fragment processing pipeline within the programmable graphics processor. Source images for one or more compositing operations are stored in graphics memory, and a resulting composited image is output or stored in graphics memory. More-complex compositing operations, such as blur, warping, morphing, and the like, can be completed in multiple passes through the fragment processing pipeline. A composited image produced during a pass through the fragment processing pipeline is stored in graphics memory and is available as a source image for a subsequent pass.

  • Publication number: 20040170763
Abstract: A method for preheating golf ball covers prior to painting. The process comprises forming a golf ball with a cover, then heating the cover from about 90° F. to about 150° F. for 1 to 3 hours in a heated enclosure prior to applying a coat of primer or paint to the ball. This is done to accelerate the evaporation of paint solvents, immediately after the paint is applied. The painted balls are subsequently dried in a heated enclosure at about 105° F. to 108° F. All additional coats of primer or paint are applied in a similar fashion, wherein the balls are painted while still in the heated state and not cooled down.

  • Publication number: 20040171452
Abstract: A variable speed transmission having a plurality of tilting balls and opposing input and output discs is illustrated and described that provides an infinite number of speed combinations over its transmission ratio range. The use of a planetary gear set allows minimum speeds to be in reverse and the unique geometry of the transmission allows all of the power paths to be coaxial, thereby reducing overall size and complexity of the transmission in comparison to transmissions achieving similar transmission ratio ranges.

  • Publication number: 20040168681
Abstract: A wheeled trolley carries various tools across an object to be worked. A track attaches directly to the work and simultaneously isolates the tool from the work. A standard connection to the trolley readily accommodates a variety of diverse tools, using a keyway or the like to ensure accurate and repeatable placement of the tools. A preferred contouring guide allows a tool to be moved through an arc, where the focal point of the arc may be set to produce an infinite variety of custom shapes, bevels or angles of cut. An upper stop is provided which readily sets the break line between surface finish and edge contour. An adjustable tool carriage allows control over both position and force, including preloading a work tool with force. Resilience is incorporated into the apparatus to accommodate diverse hardness and abrasion characteristics, and, in at least one embodiment, to enable the track to accurately follow a warped or sagging work piece.

  • Publication number: 20040172022
Abstract: A spinal stabilization system may be formed in a patient. In some embodiments, a minimally invasive procedure may be used to form a spinal stabilization system in a patient. Bone fastener assemblies may be coupled to vertebrae. Each bone fastener assembly may include a bone fastener and a collar. The collar may be rotated and/or angulated relative to the bone fastener. Detachable members may be coupled to the collar to allow for formation of the spinal stabilization system through a small skin incision. The detachable members may allow for alignment of the collars to facilitate insertion of an elongated member in the collars. An elongated member may be positioned in the collars and a closure member may be used to secure the elongated member to the collars.

  • Publication number: 20040171854
Abstract: A solvent extraction free, caustic refining free, process for producing refined soybean oil from soybeans is described in which soybeans, after cleaning, cracking and dehulling, are crushed in less than 60 seconds while heating the soybeans to a frictionally generated temperature of from about 300° F. to about 370° F. Free fatty acids are then removed through physical refining, instead of previously employed caustic refining, since the low level of nonhydratable phospholipids does not create undesirable flavors during the physical refining process. The resultant oil exhibits a significantly greater frylife that non-hydrogenated soybean oil produced by solvent extraction and caustic refining.
