  • Publication number: 20200204185
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques to perform analog signal conditioning (including filtering and amplification) and analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) on a System-in-package (SIP) assembly technology. In particular, the disclosure combines a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), one or more filter circuits, and an ADC circuit onto the same SIP. These devices are coupled together on the SIP using high-accuracy and precise integrated-passive components. The SIP receives an analog signal, amplifies the analog signal with the PGA on the SIP, filters the amplified analog signal with the filter circuit(s) on the SIP, and then performs analog-to-digital conversion on the filtered amplified analog signal with the ADC circuit on the SIP. The SIP can be configured for various applications based on a variety of inputs and control mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20200200789
Abstract: A system for monitoring the axial position of a rotating shaft includes a phonic wheel mounted coaxially to the shaft for rotation with a circumferential row of teeth. The system includes a sensor configured to detect the passage of the teeth by generating an alternating measurement signal. First and second portions of the teeth alternate around the row and contribute respective first and second components to the alternating measurement signal. The first portion of teeth vary in height in an axial direction of the wheel such that the relative height of the first and second portions varies with axial distance across the phonic wheel, and the sensor is positioned relative to the phonic wheel such that axial displacement of the shaft causes the signal to vary the first component's amplitude relative to the second component's amplitude due to the height variation, to monitor the axial position of the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20200200125
Abstract: A gas turbine engine generates noise during use, and one particularly important flight condition for noise generation is take-off. A gas turbine engine that has high efficiency provides low noise, in particular from the fan and the turbine that drives the fan. Values are defined for a noise parameter NP that results in a gas turbine engine having reduced combined fan and turbine noise.

  • Publication number: 20200197890
Abstract: A reactor for conducting exothermic equilibrium reactions, especially for the performance of methanol synthesis by heterogeneously catalysed conversion of synthesis gas, is proposed, which enables readjustment and hence optimization of the reaction conditions along the longitudinal coordinate of the reactor. For this purpose, in accordance with the invention, the reactor is divided into a multitude of series-connected reaction cells, each of which comprises a preheating zone, a cooled reaction zone, one or more cooling zones and a deposition zone for condensable reaction products. In this way, the reaction conditions are adjustable to the respective, local composition of the reaction mixture and variable over the reactor length.

  • Publication number: 20200200083
Abstract: A gas turbine engine generates noise during use, and one particularly important flight condition for noise generation is take-off. A gas turbine engine has high efficiency together with low noise, in particular the noise emanating from the front of the fan. The contribution of the fan noise emanating from the front of the engine to the Effective Perceived Noise Level (EPNL) at a take-off lateral reference point, defined as the point on a line parallel to and 450 m from the runway centre line where the EPNL is a maximum during take-off, is in the range of from 0 EPNdB and 12 EPNdB lower than the contribution of the fan noise emanating from the rear of the engine to the EPNL at the take-off lateral reference point.

  • Publication number: 20200200506
Abstract: A rail launch mechanism and method for launching a payload is configured to release payload lugs of a payload from a platform. A rack for launching a payload includes multiple rails that separately engage lugs in the respective payload of the rails, and a force actuator for launching the payload by accelerating the payload along the rails, causing the lugs to separate from the respective rails. A launching system for launching the payload from the platform may include a rail, at least one payload release shoe that carries a payload lug along the rail, and a force actuator for accelerating the payload release shoe such that inertia of the payload causes the payload lug to be released from the payload release shoe.

  • Publication number: 20200201821
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes synchronizing cached index copies at a first site with indexes of a log-structured merge (LSM) tree file system on an object storage platform at a second site. An indication that the LSM tree file system has been compacted based on a compaction process is received. A cached metadata catalog of the included parent catalog version at the first site is accessed. A set of cached index copies is identified at the first site based on the metadata of the cached metadata catalog. The compaction process is applied to the identified set of cached index copies and a compacted set of cached index copies is generated at the first site, whereby the compacted set of cached index copies is synchronized with a respective set of indexes of the plurality of sorted data tables of the LSM tree file system at the second site.

  • Publication number: 20200204791
Abstract: A method of testing a vehicular camera for a vehicular vision system includes providing a vehicular camera suitable for use on a vehicle, with the vehicular camera having a field of view. A collimator is provided that includes an optic and a target. The collimator is positioned in the field of view of the vehicular camera such that the camera images light that reflects off the target and passes through the optic. The target is angled or stepped relative to an image plane of the vehicular camera. Image data is captured with the vehicular camera, with the captured image data being representative of the angled or stepped target. The captured image data is processed, via an image processor, and a defocus of the vehicular camera is estimated based on processing by the processor of the captured image data of the angled or stepped target.

  • Publication number: 20200201822
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes synchronizing a data cache and an LSM tree file system on an object storage platform. Instructions to send a cached data set from the data cache to the LSM tree file system are received. An updated metadata catalog is generated. If the LSM tree structure is out of shape, compaction is performed on the LSM tree file system which may be on a different system or server. When an unmerged compacted metadata catalog is identified, a merged metadata catalog is generated, based on the compacted metadata catalog and the cached data set, and associated with the cached data set. The cached data set and the associated metadata catalog are sent to the LSM tree file system, whereby the data cache and the LSM tree file system are synchronized. Synchronization is enabled without the data cache or file system being locked and/or waiting for the other entity.

  • Publication number: 20200200471
Abstract: A liquefaction system is capable of sequentially or simultaneously liquefying multiple feed streams of hydrocarbons having different normal bubble points with minimal flash. The liquefying heat exchanger has separate circuits for handling multiple feed streams. The feed stream with the lowest normal boiling point is sub-cooled sufficiently to suppress most of the flash. Feed streams with relatively high normal boiling points are cooled to substantially the same temperature, then blended with bypass streams to maintain each product near its normal bubble point. The system can also liquefy one stream at a time by using a dedicated circuit or by allocating the same feed to multiple circuits.

  • Publication number: 20200204837
Abstract: Systems and methods for obtaining and playing video advertisements in conjunction with play of video content make use of partner advertising providers to reduce the time required to identify and obtain the video advertisements. An instantiation of a video player software application receives and analyzes bids from partner advertising providers and selects a winning bid before a user issues a play command. As a result, it is often possible to immediately begin playing a video advertisement the instant the user issues a play command.

  • Publication number: 20200201322
Abstract: Performance anomalies in complex systems can be difficult to identify and diagnose. In an example, CPU-usage associated with one or more of the systems can be determined. An anomalous event can be determined based on the determined CPU-usage. In some examples, based at least in part on determining the event, the system may be controlled in a safe state and/or reconfigured to obviate the anomalous event.

  • Publication number: 20200202017
Abstract: A request for memory sub-system log data is received from a host system. In response to receiving the request, a symmetric encryption key for encrypting the requested memory-sub-system log data is generated. The requested memory sub-system log data is encrypted using the symmetric encryption key. The symmetric encryption key is encrypted using an asymmetric encryption key.
