Patent number: 8151530Abstract: A wall covering comprising a plurality of panels each formed with a plurality of horizontal rows of simulated building elements, such as hand laid stone separated by simulated lines of mortar. The panels have side marginal edge regions formed with hooks and side opening slots that are interengageable as an incident to relative lateral movement of the side marginal edge regions during installation, with the rows of simulated building elements in one panel, being drawn into aligned and predetermined spaced relation to the rows of building elements and adjacently mounted panel. The underlying side marginal edge region of each panel is formed with a non-planar undulating surface similar to the mortar lines throughout the panel, and the overlying side marginal edge region of each panel further is formed with a complementary undulating surface for tight mounted positioning onto the undulating surface of the underlying side marginal edge region.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Exteria Building Products, LLCInventors: Stefan Helmut Schwarz, Robert Trabue

Patent number: 8136316Abstract: A plastic molded wall covering that includes a plurality of one piece plastic molded corner moldings mounted in a vertically stacked array. The corner moldings each have a pair of front panels disposed at an angle to each other and formed with simulated building elements, such as hand laid stone. The corner moldings have respective upper and lower interlock devices and internal support and reinforcing walls extending rearwardly of the front panels in interconnecting relation to the interlock devices. The internal support and reinforcing walls have a curved serpentine configuration with a curved junction line with the respective front panels such that any plastic molded sink mark exposed on a front side of the front panels from the integrally formed internal walls similarly is undulating so as to blend into the simulated building elements and not detract from its natural appearance.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2009Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Exteria Building Products, LLCInventors: Stefan Helmut Schwarz, Robert Trabue

Patent number: 8074417Abstract: A roof or wall covering comprising a plurality of horizontal courses of molded plastic panels each formed with a single row of simulated shake shingles. The panels have a continuous upper interlock flange that facilitates inner-engagement of the panels of overlying courses without cumbersome handling of numerous small interlock fingers which can be missed during installation. Cooperating detents are provided between the overlying lower and upper marginal edge regions which facilitate proper positioning of the panels and which support the weight of the panel during securement to a wall surface. A bottom interlock flange is supported transversely across a rear side of the panel by vertically-spaced support plates which facilitate both liquid drainage and air circulation through the installed wall covering. In the preferred embodiment, the panels in alternate courses are identically formed with different shake patterns for enhancing the natural appearance of the wall covering.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2011Date of Patent: December 13, 2011Assignee: Exteria Building Products, LLCInventors: Robert Trabue, Stefan Schwarz

Publication number: 20110023396Abstract: A wall covering comprising a plurality of panels each formed with a plurality of horizontal rows of simulated building elements, such as hand laid stone separated by simulated lines of mortar. The panels have side marginal edge regions formed with depending hooks and side opening hook receiving slots that are interengageable as an incident to relative lateral movement of the side marginal edge regions during installation, with the rows of simulated building elements in one panel, being drawn into aligned and predetermined spaced relation to the rows of building elements and adjacently mounted panel. The underlying side marginal edge region of each panel is formed with a non-planar undulating surface similar to the mortar lines throughout the panel, and the overlying side marginal edge region of each panel further is formed with a complementary configured undulating surface for tight mounted positioning onto the undulating surface of the underlying side marginal edge region.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2009Publication date: February 3, 2011Applicant: Exteria Building ProductsInventors: Stefan Helmut SCHWARZ, Robert TRABUE

Patent number: 7735286Abstract: A wall covering comprising plastic molded wall panels and corner moldings each formed with simulated cedar shake shingles. The corner molding shingles are mountable in partially overlying relation to the shingles of adjacent wall panels and a previously mounted corner molding. The corner moldings further each have upper marginal edge regions that are positionable into tight fitting underlying relation to the wall panels in a course immediately above the corner molding for providing a more natural hand cut shake appearance. The corner moldings have mounting latches and hooks which are longitudinally severable to permit mounting on all surfaces that define corners substantially greater than 90°, and the corner moldings preferably are formed with different patterns of simulated shake for further contributing to their natural appearance.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2007Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Exteria Building ProductsInventors: Robert Trabue, Stefan Schwarz
