  • Publication number: 20010023811
Abstract: A lubricating device for an escalator or moving walkway provides a lubricant container connected by way of lines with lubrication points which are arranged at a base plate which forms lateral borders for the escalator/moving walkway step belt or plate belt. Sliding pads are provided at the escalator steps of the step belt or at the plates of the plate belt which project slightly beyond the side edges of the steps or plates and, when sliding past the lubrication points, receive lubricant and subsequently transfer it to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6260687
Abstract: An apparatus for exchanging roller bearings of escalator and moving walkway chainwheel sub-assemblies includes the provision of auxiliary supports to which the chainwheel sub-assembly can be fixed. With removal of axle carriers the central axle becomes accessible, and can be displaced laterally to disengage from one of the roller bearings, which is subsequently removed and replaced. The central axle is then displaced in the opposite direction to allow access to an opposite roller bearing. Auxiliary centering for the axle in an axle cylinder is provided to prevent shifting of the axle within the cylinder when the axle carriers are removed. The steps of fixing the chainwheel sub-assembly to the auxiliary supports and subsequently shifting the axle to free the bearings constitute a method for bearing removal which does not require disassembly of the escalator/walkway conveying run and allows the escalator or walkway to be walked on during the exchange process.

  • Patent number: 6243102
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a user with increased flexibility and control over the appearance and behavior of objects on a user interface are described. Sets of objects can be grouped into themes to provide a user with a distinct overall impression of the interface. These themes can be switched dynamically by switching pointers to drawing procedures or switching data being supplied to these procedures. To buffer applications from the switchable nature of graphical user interfaces according to the present invention, colors and patterns used to implement the interface objects are abstracted from the interface by, for example, pattern look-up tables.

  • Patent number: 6155401
Abstract: A drive for an escalator is installed on one or both sides of the escalator at the lower and/or upper end and comprises one to several identically constructed drive units, which are arranged and distributed about the circumference of a main drive wheel. The drive units can be flange-mounted in either a longitudinal or transverse direction to the direction of travel of the escalator on a common main gear housing which can be identical for the support of one or more drive units. The operation of the motors of the drive units are controlled by way of a common frequency-setting device. A control and regulating unit processes input data into control and regulating data for the frequency-setting device, a relay control and optical signals and illumination for the escalator. The individual drive units are switched in or out according to the actual power requirements of the escalator during operation.

  • Patent number: 6142286
Abstract: A floor cover for use in conjunction with conveying equipment for persons located at an end of an escalator, moving walkway or the like, has one or more cover elements which can be walked on and which flushly close off, relative to the surrounding flooring, the opening of an under-floor space in which operating equipment is typically located. The cover elements can be lifted and laterally displaced to expose the opening for access to the operating equipment. The cover elements are separably joined together at joint locations. A resilient profile member is located at each joint to prevent the generation of noises and to provide a tight seal between the cover elements against penetrating dirt. The cover can be raised, laterally displaced and rotated away from the opening by means of a multi-part hinge. The turned-up cover elements can, with a support device, be retained in a raised position to form an entry barrier for the exposed opening.

  • Patent number: 5918377
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for measuring the width of the mouth of a horse or other domesticated farm animal so as to allow one to select a bit of suitable width. The apparatus includes a crossbar having first and second ends, a first annular stop received on the crossbar adjacent the first end and a second annular stop received on the crossbar adjacent the second end. At least one of the stops slides along the crossbar. The width of the horse's mouth is measured by engaging a first side of the mouth of the horse with the first stop and a second side of the mouth of the horse with the second stop and measuring the distance therebetween along the crossbar. Central openings in the annular stops receive and accommodate any wrinkled flesh around the margin of the mouth are the apparatus is positioned to complete the measurement of the mouth. This insures accurate width measurement.

  • Patent number: 5917487
Abstract: Systems and methods for drawing objects on a display and, in particular, on a graphical user interface are described. Arbitrarily sized objects having straight sides and arbitrarily shaped corners can be drawn using one or more concentric rings which enclose an optional face. Each ring is specified as part of a data structure in terms of position, fill pattern and bits to be turned on. As a result, changes to the object's appearance attributes, such as, size, shape and color, can be made without requiring new program code.

  • Patent number: 5880729
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing an enhanced visual appearance to a graphical user interface are described. Control elements portrayed by the graphical user interface on a display are associated with at least two states. When transitioning between states, an animated transition effect can be provided to provide further user or designer customization of the interface appearance.

  • Patent number: 5611417
Abstract: An apparatus for stopping passenger conveyors, such as escalators and moving walkways having at least one comb plate, responds to movement of the comb plate due to an applied force to actuate a safety switch. The apparatus exerts a static trigger force on the comb plate which trigger force has horizontal and vertical components. The comb plate is movable horizontally and vertically against a static trigger force when the applied force exceeds one or both of the horizontal and vertical components. The trigger force is set by a biased trigger spring pivotally mounted on a carrier plate for the comb plate and acting at an adjustable angle relative to the horizontal plane permitting selection of the ratio of the horizontal component to the vertical component. The angular position can be reset manually within a certain angular range through engagement of detent notches on an abutment attached to the comb plate and detent pins connected to the trigger spring.

  • Patent number: 4672166
Abstract: The invention is directed to a control circuit for controlling the current of a welding transformer integrated in an industrial robot. For the purpose of achieving a simpler, more accurate and more reliable detection of contact between the welding tongs (4, 5) and the parts (11, 12) to be joined by welding, there are provided a high-frequency generator (1) for supplying measuring current to the secondary circuit (2) of the welding transformer, an impedance measuring circuit (3), an additional impedance (7) for increasing the impedance of the secondary current (2) to high frequency, an interrupter circuit (8) for interrupting the welding current, and a comparator for enabling the welding current merely in the presence of a differential voltage signal which corresponds to complete contacting of the two parts to be joined by welding.
