Publication number: 20230294786Abstract: A vehicle includes a frame, a front ground-engaging sphere, a rear ground-engaging sphere, and gripping portions for a rider to hold. The front sphere is rotatable about a first axis which is transverse and fixed relative to the frame and the rear sphere is rotatable about a plurality of axes. The vehicle also includes a support, which is connected pivotally to a rear portion of the frame. The rear sphere is connected to the support for rotation about a second axis which is transverse and fixed relative to the support. The support is pivotal with respect to the frame about a third axis which extends downwardly and longitudinally of the vehicle, such that the support is pivotable through a range of positions including a neutral position wherein the first and second axes are parallel. The vehicle further includes a resilient biasing mechanism configured to resiliently bias the support towards the neutral position.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2021Publication date: September 21, 2023Inventors: Andrew Loveland, Jeffrey Knapman, Robert Upton

Patent number: 10940814Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispenser module for converting preexisting analog systems into a customizable digital system. According to an illustrative embodiment of the present disclosure, a user can utilize preexisting analog equipment to operate and control a dispenser module. A squib is electrically connected to a logic circuit such that the normal “firing” of the original payload at that location will cause a change in the state of the electrical circuit. Because there are multiple payload allocations within one module, this allows electrical communication with individual/select payload devices by an operator. Payloads in the module can be quickly swapped in and out without making any changes to the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2019Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Marshall Andrew Mullins, Charles Robert Upton, Mark Alan Anderson, Timothy Bradley, Eric Alan Hillenbrand

Patent number: 10488652Abstract: Optical scanning apparatus includes a triangular prism, having first and second side faces and a base. A transmitter directs a beam of optical radiation into the prism through the first side face, which refracts the beam so that the optical radiation is incident on and reflects from the base within the prism at a reflection angle that is greater than a total internal reflection (TIR) angle of the prism and exits the prism through the second side face. At least one scanning mirror is positioned to intercept and reflect the beam back into the prism while scanning the beam over an angular range selected such that after refraction of the scanned beam at the second side face, the scanned beam is incident on the base at a transmission angle that is less than the TIR angle and is transmitted out of the prism through the base.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2017Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Alexander Shpunt, Niv Gilboa, Robert Upton

Patent number: 10040502Abstract: A vehicle (1) comprises a frame (17); a front ground engaging sphere (2) which is rotatable about a first axis which is transverse and fixed relative to the frame (17); a rear ground engaging sphere (3) which is rotatable about a plurality of axes, and gripping portions (11) which are provided towards the front of the vehicle (1), for a rider to hold. A support member (25) is connected pivotally to a rear portion of the frame (17) and projects longitudinally of the vehicle (1) and downwardly from the point of connection to the frame (17) to a remote part of the support member (25). The rear sphere (3) is connected to the remote part of the support member (25) for rotation about a second axis which is transverse and fixed relative to the support member (25). The support member (25) is pivotal with respect to the frame (17) about a third axis which extends downwardly and longitudinally of the vehicle (1).Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2015Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: Early Rider LimitedInventors: Andrew Loveland, Robert Upton
