  • Patent number: 5732817
Abstract: Apparatus for holding folding clothing in a compact bag, particularly one suited for storage under seats or in overhead bins on commercial aircraft is disclosed. A two part folding panel is connected at one edge parallel to a hinge between two compartments of a suitcase. A hanger carrying an article of clothing is attached to a hook on the interior of a side wall opposite the hinge so that the clothing lays across the bottom of the compartment and portions of the folding panel. Two arcuate padded bars are provided over the hinge and over a fold line on the folding panel so that the clothing is wrapped around same with a relatively large radius of curvature when the first panel segment is folded along the fold line over the second panel segment, and the composite folded panel is then folded into one compartment of the suitcase.

A hanger carrying an article of clothing is attached to a hook on the interior of a side wall opposite the hinge so that the clothing lays across the bottom of the compartment and portions of the folding panel. Two arcuate padded bars are provided over a far end opposite the hinge and over a fold line on the folding panel so that the clothing is wrapped around same with a relatively large radius of curvature when the first panel segment is folded along the fold line over the second panel segment, and the composite folded panel is then folded into one compartment of the suitcase.

  • Patent number: 5311972
Abstract: Luggage with improved apparatus for holding goods or auxiliary articles to a main piece of luggage. An auxiliary hook for carrying a separate piece, such as a briefcase, is removably attachable to a stud protruding outwardly from the luggage. The hook has a first opening to receive an enlargement at the outer end of the stud and a second opening to receive the relatively smaller post of the stud. The two openings are interconnected by a throat having resilient members permitting forceable movement of the stud from the larger opening to the smaller opening, whereat the stud retains the hook in place. In another embodiment, an auxiliary bag equipped with a strap extending to the hook, so that the auxiliary bag is selectively attachable to the outside of the luggage.

  • Patent number: 5310031
Abstract: A hard sided clamshell suitcase with integrally formed wells in top and bottom side panels is disclosed. The wells include a well periphery having a peripheral shelf upon which a reinforced periphery of a pouch is seated, the pouch being secured to standoff regions within the interior of the well. A wall defining a raised structure with a well floor that is co-planar with the side panel has an upper surface of the wall co-planar with a wheel base plane to provide a stable plane of rest for a suitcase when laid on its bottom. The well in the top side panel is recessed and has a soft cover that is co-planar with the side panel.

  • Patent number: 5240106
Abstract: A camera bag having a substantially rigid rectilinear well with a plurality of rigid bins disposed therein. The bins are mounted for rotation about horizontal axes disposed toward the front of the bag and may be selectively rotated between a home position in which they fit in the interior of the bag and an open position at which their contents may be easily accessed. Apparatus for maintaining the bins and both their open and home position is disclosed. A retractable U-shaped handle having telescoping rods is used to pull the bag on a pair of wheels when desired. The telescoping rods become journaled in tubular guides disposed within the interior of the bag. Removable side pockets are particularly designed for carrying lenses and specifically designed to be quickly removed from the sides of the bag and carried on the belt of a user.

  • Patent number: 4995487
Abstract: A luggage assembly comprising a suitcase having integrally connected thereto a laterally extendable handle at its upper end and a wheel assembly at its lower end is disclosed. To effect transport, the handle is moved from a lowered, compact, position to a raised position and the suitcase is tilted from an upright standing position to a canted position in which it is supported solely by its wheels and rolled by pulling said handle. An attachment allows for additional luggage items to be carried by the assembly and transported in a fully balanced manner.
