Abstract: A surge-suppression system utilizing a hybrid design comprised of metal oxide varistors, silicon avalanche diodes, a fuse element, filter capacitor and multiple surge planes and surge paths to dissipate and divert transient over-voltages away from sensitive electronic equipment. These multiple surge conduction paths provide redundant parallel planes which optimize the skin-effect phenomena, which is the flow of electrical current at the conductor surface. This design provides a very low impedance which produces a high performance surge-suppression system.
