The rate at which the multisystem log stream is compressed by the system is ascertained. That rate is relative to how frequently the multisystem log stream is compressed by other systems of the multisystem environment. The frequency with which the system compresses the multisystem log stream is then adjusted in real-time. Thus, the frequency at which one system of the multisystem environment compresses the log stream is relative to the frequency at which other systems of the multisystem environment are compressing the log stream.

The vector formatter generates vectors to be searched in a full code book of vectors. The gross quantizer generates pointers indicative of subsets of vector indices. The vector indices are indicative of groups of vectors to be searched in the full code book that are substantially less in number than the number of vectors in the full code book. A search controller is employed to search only the subset of vectors in the full code book and produce as an output the index of the one vector in the full code book closest to the formatted vector being searched so that the quality of a full code book searched is made faster without degradation of a full code book search.

Abstract: In a coupled data processing system having multiple users, either in a single system or in a multi-system environment, a coupling facility storage structure is used to provide a log management facility. The log management facility provides for a real time physical log merge of the data written into the log stream without interprocessor communication required to process the records in logical sequence. The log management facility supports concurrent write, delete, browse, and asynchronous off-load to dasd processes across multi-users and multi-systems. The log management facility maintains the log records, independent of the log media, in time sequence. A logical block id is assigned to each log record written so that it can be directly accessed at a later time.

Abstract: A belt weatherstrip adapted to engage an end flange of a vehicle for operative sealing between a glass window and a vehicle surface. The flange of the vehicle has an inner surface and an outer surface. The belt weatherstrip is expandable to accommodate adaptability to various vehicle surface contours by allowing expendability of the width of the weatherstrip.The belt weatherstrip includes an elongated core substrate which has an inner flange portion for abutting the inner surface of the flange and includes an outer flange portion and intermediate portion connecting the inner flange portion with the outer flange portion and a plurality of clips for securing the elongated core substrate to the end flange. An elastomeric sealing lip member is attached to the flange portion for allowing slideable sealing engagement between the flange and a glass pane.

Abstract: A portable toilet case is disclosed that carries many common toilet items including razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. in retainer clips around a central pedestal. The retainer clips provide easy access to all of the toilet articles while providing a system to securely hold the items for storage. Three different embodiments of the invention are disclosed. The first is simply a carrier of the articles. The second, includes a removable storage unit that also has a mirror attached. The removable storage unit is sealed with a cap that can be used as a cup, and, in the case of a metal unit, can act as a cooking pot. The third embodiment also includes space for a small butane fueled camp stove. The device can be made of high strength plastic, or lightweight metals like aluminum.
