Patent number: 6349973Abstract: Methods of forming outserts used to provide printed information to the users and purchasers of pharmaceutical products in which a sheet of paper is folded a number of times in a direction parallel to a first direction and then folded a number of times in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The folds in the second direction are made to produce an outsert having no unfolded exterior sheet edges which lie in a direction parallel to the second direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2000Date of Patent: February 26, 2002Inventors: Joseph M. Patent number: 5458374Abstract: This invention relates to a universal, multi-ply, nonjamming package outsert having multiple folds, manufactured from an integral sheet of stock, the outsert having compact edges about its periphery, which are inserted into packages to provide printed information, instructions and warnings to the users of the product, for example, pharmaceutical or cosmetic products, and the like. A related method is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1994Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Inventors: Robert Vijuk, Joseph M. Vijuk

Patent number: 5046710Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for making a leaflet having fold lines and cross folds normal to the fold lines and with an adhesive adhering a lip portion of a long leg of the leaflet to a short leg of the leaflet to avoid leaving a loose edge on the leaflet. Sheets are conveyed in a first direction to a first folding at a first folding station, and then a second conveyor feeds the sheets to travel at right angles to a cross folder at a second folding station. The cross folds are made to a lip portion on a long leg and adhesive applicator applies adhesive to the lip portion which is adhered by the adhesive to a folded panel to form a leaflet having fold lines and cross folds at its edges, thereby eliminating any loose edges. Loose edges may open the leaflet during a high speed conveyance thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1989Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Assignee: Vijuk Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Robert Vijuk

Patent number: 4905977Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for accumulating sheets into a stack and for folding the stack with at least two folds into a "C" or "Z" letter fold. A continuously traveling conveyor travels past a plurality of sheet feeding stations. A sheet is removed from each station simultaneously and these sheets are transferred to a position over the conveyor, and they are stacked directly onto the previously deposited sheets on the conveyor so that simultaneously a sheet is added to each stack at a location opposite each station. Such stack is conveyed to a folding knife which folds the stack off center and leaves a larger unfold portion. At a second folding station, a folding device folds a second fold parallel to the first fold to complete a letter fold for the entire stack of sheets which folded stack is then discharged.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1988Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Inventor: Robert Vijuk

Patent number: 4817931Abstract: A folded closed instructional leaflet has exterior edges and is formed from an integral sheet having a pair of first fold lines formed in the sheet and extending parallel and dividing the sheet into superimposed panels. A first cross fold is normal to the fold lines and divides the superimposed panels into a first short leg and a second long leg, with each of said leg having superimposed panels therein. A lip portion is formed on the long leg. A sdcond cross fold in the short leg forms a short interior section in the short leg disposed within the interior of the leaflet and a leg section with a third cross fold in the long leg forming a leg section having superimposed panels with the lip portion on the leg section. The second and third cross folds form substantially equal halves for the leaflet with short interior section between the halves. Adhesive interior of the leaflet join the halves together at the lip portion to form a closed leaflet with fold lines and cross folds along its exterior edges.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Vijuk Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Robert Vijuk
