  • Publication number: 20110216960
Abstract: An automated banking machine operates responsive to data read from user cards to accept checks and dispense cash to authorized machine users. The machine can compare image data and magnetic data obtained from a check to determine the genuineness of the check. The machine can also determine whether a machine user is authorized to exchange a check for cash. A cash dispenser can be operated to dispense cash to a machine user in exchange for a deposited check. The machine dispenses the cash responsive to communications with a transaction host.

  • Patent number: 8002177
Abstract: An automated banking machine operates responsive to data read from data bearing records to cause financial transfers. The machine includes a card reader that reads data from user cards corresponding to financial accounts. The machine can communicate with a host computer to cash financial checks. The machine can read check indicia, send check data to the host, receive authorization from the host to cash the check, and dispense cash corresponding to the check. The machine can also produce image data representative of the check indicia and determine whether the image data can be accurately identified within a predetermined level of assurance.

  • Patent number: 7926712
Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser. Servicing the automated banking machine by on-site servicer is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article which can instruct the machine computer to gather machine diagnostic data and then record the gathered machine diagnostic data onto the portable diagnostic article. The gathered diagnostic data recorded on the portable diagnostic article can then be analyzed by an analysis computer. The machine computer can verify that a portable diagnostic article is authorized to instruct the machine based on obtaining a secret code from the portable diagnostic article.

  • Patent number: 7780074
Abstract: An automated banking machine system and method includes ATMs which can accept checks and dispense cash. Cash can be dispensed to an authorized user in exchange for one or more checks received from the user during a transaction session. Following closure of the transaction session, the ATM analyzes image and magnetic data from a received check to determine an analyzed check value. The ATM then determines whether the analyzed check value corresponds to a check value inputted by the user. With corresponding values, the user account is credited with the check value. Without corresponding values, the user account balance is adjusted accordingly and the user is notified of the discrepancy.

  • Patent number: 7740169
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a cash dispenser (54). Servicing the machine is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article (98) which enables the controller to access diagnostic data stored in memory and which provides data indicative of the significance of the diagnostic data. A portable article of computer readable and writable media (314) is also operative to cause the computer to gather data concerning the banking machine and record it on the media through a drive (312). The data gathered is then analyzed by a separate analysis computer (324).
