    Abstract: A firearm security device including a surface mountable frame to which a first plate and a second movable plate are attached. A grip pad is attached to each of the opposing inner sides of the fixed and movable plates. A trigger guard stud is attached to and projects from the inner face of the fixed plate. The movable second plate is movable with respect to the first plate from an open position wherein a firearm is positioned with the trigger guard stud projecting through the trigger guard of the firearm, to a closed position where the movable plate is positioned substantially parallel to the fixed plate and at least a portion of the receiver of the firearm is held in a compressive grip between the grip pads. A lock selectively restricts movement of the second movable plate.

    Abstract: A light modulator comprises a series of ribbons divided by a series of gaps. Sequences of consecutive ribbons and gaps are grouped together to form a plurality of pixels that are configured to process a respective plurality of wavelengths. The spacing from center-line to center-line of adjacent pixels is progressively increased from a reference pixel to align component pixels with their assigned wavelengths. The widths of ribbons and gaps within a particular pixel affect the polarization dependent loss of a pixel, and affect the first order diffraction angle. Ribbon widths and gap widths within successive pixels are altered to normalize polarization dependent loss and first order diffraction angles against the values associated with a reference pixel.

The first controllable light modulator controllably deflects a first set of the wavelength components and controllably reflects a second set of the wavelength components. The wavelength components in the second set are mapped onto separate sections of the second controllable light modulator by the lens system and are controllably reflected by the second controllable light modulator.

    Abstract: Optical devices comprising addressable pixels are tiled in an array configured for generating an image line. The addressable pixels are grouped into center pixels and addressable sub-pixels are grouped at the ends. The optical devices are tiled in staggered rows with addressable. sub-pixels and/or pixels overlapping along the array. To optimize the quality of the image, addressable sub-pixels are selectively operated and/or disabled to remove artifacts and maximize pixel density in the image line generated by the overlap regions. Arrays of optical devices, in accordance with the invention, are used generate image lines for display and print applications. The optical devices can be any light valve including MEM devices such as diffraction grating light valves and LCD devices.

The step of decrypting the visual data includes maintaining an electronic version of the visual data within circuit elements that are substantially inaccessible. The system for securely transmitting and displaying the visual data includes an encryption apparatus, means for transporting the encrypted visual data, and the display apparatus. The display apparatus includes circuit elements that are substantially inaccessible. The circuit elements include a decryption circuit for decrypting the encrypted visual data, which forms the visual data within the display apparatus.

    Abstract: An image projector projects an image onto a display screen and includes a laser source unit, an optical fiber, and a projector head. The projector head includes a light modulator and an optical projection arrangement. The optical fiber couples a laser illumination to the light modulator of the projector head from the laser source unit. The light modulator modulates the laser illumination to produce an array of pixels. The optical projection arrangement projects the array of pixels onto the display screen to produce the image on the display screen. Preferably, the image projector is a color image projector. In the color image projector, the laser source unit includes red, green, and blue lasers, which illuminate first, second, third light modulators. The first, second, and third light modulators produce red, green, and blue arrays of pixels, which the optical projection arrangement projects onto the display screen to produce a color image.
