Publication number: 20110050692Abstract: A technique for rendering a deformable volume includes acquiring 3D images of a deformable volume including an object during phases of a deformation motion. The 3D images include voxels, a portion of which move from original coordinate locations during a primary phase to deformed coordinate locations during each subsequent phase of the deformation motion. Deformation matrixes each based upon one of the 3D images during a different one of the phases are generated. The deformation matrixes each include transformation vectors describing how to return the voxels from their deformed coordination locations to their original coordinate locations of the primary phase.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2009Publication date: March 3, 2011Applicant: ACCURAY INCORPORATEDInventors: Kun Zhang, Hui Zhang, Bai Wang, Robert W. Patent number: 7015490Abstract: A method and apparatus to determine an optimum collimator angle of a multi-leaf collimator having an opening and multiple leaf pairs for closing portions of the opening to form a radiation beam arrangement having multiple radiation beam segments. The method and apparatus include application of a cost function to determine a collimator angle which provides for delivery efficiency and target conformity. The user can preferentially either selectively enhance delivery efficiency of the radiation beam arrangement, reducing a number of radiation beam segments and reducing a number of radiation beam monitor units required for delivery of the desired prescription, or selectively enhance conformity of the radiation beam arrangement to a target shape. The optimum collimator angle is then used for delivery of an optimized radiation beam arrangement to a patient by a radiation delivery device.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2004Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: Nomos CorporationInventors: Duan Qiang Wang, Robert W. Patent number: 4596496Abstract: A truss system is disclosed for use in supporting the roof of a mine. The system comprises an assemblage of elements which permit more rapid and efficient installation than prior art truss systems which have generally been installed as a secondary operation, after the standard, required bolting pattern is in place. The present system, on the other hand, may be installed concurrently with and in fact may become part of, the standard bolting system. The system includes a pair of roof bolts installed in conventional fashion in drill holes extending at divergent angles into the mine roof on opposite sides of the mine opening. The bolts each extend through aligned openings in a bearing support plate and a separate angle block having a curved outer surface. The closed ends of a U-bolt, having a curvature corresponding to the surface of the angle block, extend around the two blocks with the open, threaded ends of the U-bolts facing one another.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1984Date of Patent: June 24, 1986Assignee: The Eastern Co.Inventors: Gary D. Patent number: 4590041Abstract: A spring actuated annular movable plate in the combustion chamber of a pyrotechnic gas generator exerts a constant pressure on gas generant pellets therein to prevent relative movement and consequent abrasion and reduction to powder form of the pellets regardless of the extent to which they continue to settle relative to one another as the result of age and continued vibration of the vehicle in which the generator is installed thereby improving the long duration stability of the generator and avoiding overpressurization of the generator that tends to result upon degradation of the gas generant pellets.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1984Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Morton Thiokol, Inc.Inventor: Robert W. Patent number: 4289863Abstract: Novel catalysts are provided for the polymerization of olefins such as ethylene. The catalysts consist essentially of a chromium compound supported upon an inorganic carrier containing aluminum and phosphorus moieties, at least a portion of the chromium having a valence of less than 6. The inorganic carrier is an amorphous precipitate of aluminum phosphate or an amorphous precipitate containing aluminum and phosphorus moieties in an atomic ratio in the range of about 5:1 to 1:1. The catalysts are particularly useful for polymerizing ethylene in a Particle Form Process in that the catalyst has essentially no polymerization induction period and provides ethylene polymers having a desirably broad molecular weight distribution and a desirably high melt flow shear ratio.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1980Date of Patent: September 15, 1981Assignee: Gulf Oil CorporationInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 4113825Abstract: In a fuser roll for electrostatic copying machines comprising a cylindrical metal core surrounded by a cylindrical body of elastomeric material having an outside cylindrical sleeve of protective material, the end surfaces of the elastomeric material are protected from the deleterious effects of silicone fluid by sealing rings of elastomeric material such as fluorosilicone which is resistant thereto. The rings, which are rectangular in cross section and are made of uncured, deformable material, are inserted in the ends of the sleeve with the ends of the sleeve protruding. The sleeve is assembled with the metal core and placed in a cylindrical mold. Silicone rubber is injected into the space between the core and the sleeve and the sleeve and rings are expanded into contact with the mold wall. The roll is then cured.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Ames Rubber CorporationInventors: Robert W. Hill, William G. Onnen, Lyle C. Ryder
