Abstract: An activator composition having increased effectiveness and life when used in an aqueous alkaline stripper solution at elevated temperatures to remove siccative coatings from substrates containing two essential components A and B. Component A consists essentially of at least one of an ethoxylated tetrahydrofurfuryl, a mixture of an ethoxylated tetrahydrofurfuryl and an ethoxylated furfuryl, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-pyrrolidine. Component B consists essentially of at least one of N-phenyl-diethanolamine, furfurylamine, tetrahydrofurfurylamine, octadecylamine, butoxypropanolamine and N-amino-morpholine.

Abstract: A cold paint stripper composition and replenisher composition for removing paint from solid surfaces comprising an aqueous composition containing a chloroacetic acid, a relatively low concentration of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 chlorinated hydrocarbon, an anionic sulfonate, naphthenic acid, a sorbitan C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 ester, and, optionally, a corrosion inhibitor, tetrahydrofuran, paraffin wax, and formic acid.

Abstract: A method and composition are disclosed for the stripping of polymer coatings from coated metal surfaces. The composition comprises methylene chloride, formic acid, chlorinated acetic acid and a surfactant selected from the class consisting of sulfonated castor oil and alkylbenzene sulfonic acid and salts thereof, wherein the alkyl group has from about 10 to about 14 carbon atoms.

Abstract: A process for removing paint from rubber surfaces employing an acidic stripping solution comprising sulfuric acid and preferably one or more anionic wetting agents.
